  • I can haz skate board PLZ?

I have a dillema. Back in the day when I was a whipper-snapper (14 f%#^ing YEARS AGO), I was really into the skater/surfer scene of South Florida. Being born in the Pitt but raised on the East Coast of Florida, I had a taste of something really fun that I would love to do again. I thought about picking up an Element board but I do face one problem.
    Ok, two problems.

Number one, I'm old. "MILF old". It sucks because I can't correct the problem. What you would see is some house wife looking bitch in a short skirt with pig tails doing rail slides.

Number two, I'm trans. This means that not only would I look like wifey on a board but a male to female dork faced shemale riding sic.

What do? I thought about dressing younger and maybe "trying" to hide the fact that I'm well in my fucking thirties but I don't want to look silly.

I know one other skater Tgirl on this forum but she's cool and young. Also... really fucking sexy and I want to make love to her.

    Forget that.

What should I do? Do what I think is fun and get out more or sit at my desk and sip tea while I watch Days of our Lives?

most of society would think it odd seeing someone in their thirtys riding a rail or doing a kickflip, but doesnt most of society already see the trans community as odd anyway? fuck em, go have some fun. Life's too short, besides, 30's the new 20 lol.

      a little confidence

I am a tgirl too so I speak from experience. I know you probably won't believe me anyway but here goes:

First of all, being in your thirties does not make you old. It may be a little old for skateboarding but it is not old. If you were in your fifties I would say you were too old for skateboarding but that is 20 years away.

Second, so many girls are entirely focused on the transition and forget to do anything else. There are certainly little obssessions, compulsions, worries, concerns that can develop as girls transition. I totally understand that you want to blend in when you go out. But if you are spending that much time thinking about skateboarding, you should go do it. What is the point of transitioning into being a woman if you then do not permit yourself to go out and live as a woman?

Have confidence in yourself! Go out and have fun because that is what you want to do. People will notice you for your confidence then. If you get any comments at all, it will be because you make people feel insecure in the face of your confidence. So if they snicker or laugh, you will know that is what is behind it. People like that are easy to put in their place.

Let me know how the skateboarding goes.

I agree with Sunshine, most get so wrapped up in transition and forget the real world. It's your life, do what you want, when you want and who you want. And if people don't like it...tough!

Well i am not young but I roller blade all the time, I prefer it to skateboarding but feel just as "cool" doing it.
I have noticed that as soon as I put on the rollerblades I transfrom a late 30's something guy into a "Young Punk in the eyes of many others.
I often get comments and people younger than me shaking their fist at me and calling me a punk etc. It is all perception.

Get on a skateboard and the old fogies walking their poodles will think you are a reckless young punk. Wearing a helmut helps hide the grey hairs and is very acceptable. I would recommend equipment for the older set though when doing this though. You will not heal like you used to.

I got extra rollerblades, i'll take u out any time.

In the states rollerblading is dead I don't even think it's in the X games
anymore but as long as you have fun get after it kiddo the only thing I
will suggest is not pairing the skater boots with say a fanny pack or some
oakley sunglasses or no fear t shirt.

I think it is just dead in the southern states, in fact i don't think it caught on much at all.
I got some strange looks rollerblading in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
In Hollywood I went out on the streets but did not see any other bladers in the city. There was many rollerbladers out at Venice Beach though.
Rollerblading has lost alot of focus however it is still very popular in the northern states and particularily Minneapolis where it supposedly was invented. The MetroDome also doubles as the Roller-Dome.
I have bladed there and in Detroit where it is also very popular, plus Seattle and other places.

Toronto and Montreal are 2 of my favourite places to blade.
In Montreal you can rollerblade around the "Gilles Villenuve Raceway"
Best freaking place to rollerblade ever. Head from downtown up over the Jacques Cartier Bridge and out to the island where the racktrack is.

In Toronto during the day I can usually get anywhere in the city core faster than a taxi or car. Vancouver is good in Stanley park but has too many hills.

You are right that it was taken out of the X games, however rollerblading had more events in the beginning than anything else.
Here is the petition to bring it back.
