  • EYE mag closing down

This week was the last issue of EYE. It is being replaced by The Grid that will not carry adult ads. One tgirl I know is freaking out.

I assume NOW will pick up the slack and expand its tgirl section.

Also, online advertising is going to be even more important.

    Any thoughts?

    No great loss

The Eye had become less than the sum of its parts.
This might be the time for some smart cookie to start a free paper which focuses strictly on the sex industry.
It is after all, one of the few growth industries left standing, er lying? Kneeling?

I figured it was only a matter of time that this happened, since the Star bought it several years ago.

I'm sure the parent company planned to phase it out long ago.

However they did introduce the online profiles some time ago.
      Maybe that didn't pan out.
Will the EYE still exist online or anything?

Actually, The Star started EYE after watching the success of NOW. I believe EYE is gone even on line and the new publication will be titled The Grid. It is likely aimed at the youth market. Good luck. The young ones read their iPhones and similar devices.

The adult ads were no doubt a bit of an embarrassment to the corporate types at Torstar.

The company also owns Harlequin. Maybe someone (Barbie Swallows?) could start a Harlequin series featuring tgirls?

Ok, I must be thinking of when Globe Media bought the Star.

Things changed alot when that happened.
I remember they canned most of the existing people that were working on the adult side.

Maybe the Grid will be full of those barcode thingys for everyone to scane with their smart phones.

who reads magazines & newspapers anymore

            surprised it took this long,

            times are changing,

girls have to be able to re-invent themselves & advertise themselves, and provide unforgettable service, there are lots of new girls appearing every month, more now maybe then there has ever been in Canada, so if you can't then this business is not for you.

            just my $0.02

            later
            how can't you love a t-girl ?

I loved picking up an Eye each week and going straight to the tgirl section, it was the best...that's where I found Lucy, Terrah, Amity and a few others, before I discovered Shemale Canada...I'm gonna miss flipping to the adds as I sit at a red light in my car...

                %100 agreed babes..
if the SP has a good reputation, she shouldn't be worried about the papers that much.
I removed all of my paper ads in november and mainly take my regulars and exteremly happy the way it is right now...
I was in the papers almost 6 years (non-stop) and paid more than 4000$ a month to 'now, eye and toronto sun' .I tried my best to provide good service to all of my clients that I ve seen over the years. now I have a very good reputation,I don't have to deal with papers, and mainly I take my regulars,at least I know who is coming to my door,I know what to give&,what to get,and I take new clients who sounds normal on the phone....

what about for new girls who don't have a reputation such as yours? It would be nice for them to have as many options as possible to get their name out there. But i do agree with the "getting with the times".

LOL That's a good one. Eye is not what it used to be after it's budget cuts. I could see the papers getting thinner and the boxes were empty. Here in Scarborough, only a few boxes have them. I go to Now's website to read Sasha's sex column after she got dropped from Eye.
