Bam? Actually a type of West Indian bread, or the sound a gun makes....or an acronym for Bumming Around Money!!! (Anyone who liked Cheech and Chong will know what I mean!).

Most Thai names are long and people have trouble saying them...so they choose short nick-names so you can say them. Its true of males and females. My favorite ladyboy is " Moo "...which means " pork " or " pig "...lol

Sometimes it is an english representation of their real name, possibly like 'Moo'.
However many thais have very long names, so they choose very short english names.

They can never change their real name to a female one, as long as they remain in Thailand.

At the hospital in Bangkok the nurse had her name tag in Thai and English,
the English name was "Milk".
