  • Can a Transsexual compete in the Olympics?

So we see they have allowed a MTF transsexual into Miss Universe.

Would they allow the same thing in the Olympics, if and when it happens?
They have allowed the man with carbon legs this year, many feel he has an unfair advantage.
    How far can this go?
    Robotic legs? Robots against humans?
    Isn't it all worthless then?

They cannot combine Men's and Women's sport, as that would exclude all but the exceptional women.
So a MTF Transsexual would most likely have a huge advantage over a field of women.
What happens when they have Female Id and sugery?

I suppose most transsexuals would be on banned substances,
but could they get a medical pass?
Could transgenders compete against each other?

You would think it will come up sooner or later.

In fairness, we would have to compete against each other. The male world record in each event is better then the female. Highly doubtful that women would allow that. And I don't believe any self respecting tranny would every want to be involved in the male games.

But for transsexuals to compete in such an event, would that not contradict your stance that transsexuals deserve no special treatment? For TS's to compete against each other, the IOC would have to recognize a TS as a third sex. If you are against recognizing a third gender then this would not fly either....right? (Tax payer money would go into this)

No having a third category is better but I suppose a TS should always be able to compete as their birth sex, if they want.
I think there was a TS in the mix or something once before in something.
My only problem with a 3rd gender is then there has to be a 4th and a 5th and a 6th.
There is only two genders and everything else is just a mix of the two.

Even with another category I imagine they are all on banned substances.
Either MTF or FTM, they are probably on a whack of hormones and whatever else.

I guess it could be a part of Paralympics, as many view themselves as handicapped.
However so many more TS don't feel they are handicapped, just currently in the wrong place or whatever.

      Just a thought.
I think the Russians are all for it.

              Spelling Bee

It is "The male world record in each event is better than the female." and not "The male world record in each event is better then the female."

Gender testing athletes has been done for years and is a controversial issue, as one would expect...and according to wikipedia (so it must be true, right?):

"Newer rules permit transsexual athletes to compete in the Olympics after having completed sex reassignment surgery, being legally recognized as a member of the sex they wish to compete as, and having undergone two years of hormonal therapy (unless they transitioned before puberty).[8] These controversies continued with the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing"

Spelling vs Grammer or is it Grammar

I never said or implied that the use of then instead of than was a matter of spelling. It was however meant to point out that "than" is what you should have used. I felt this was a perfect opportunity to point this out as I have more often than not noticed "then" being used where the proper word was "than".

Also, the correct spelling is grammar.
