Since it is highly unlikely that any member of this forum is ever to have any kind of association with camels or even a connection to any of those persons who might have had some occasion to associate with camels, please explain to us why this “Breaking News” story should take up space on this forum, a forum related to transsexuals? Is this Camel MERS transmitted through camel spit or camel dung? Do you know?? How virulent is this new form of MERS? Do you know?? Do you care??

There were probably 100’s of “breaking news” stories, including some right here in Canada that are probably much more worthy of comment on this forum than this story about camel born MERS that you are trying to sensationalize! To what end do you post this nonsense anyway?

If you insist upon spending time and energy tracking down stories to “SENSATIONALIZE” in this forum why not put that same effort into doing something of substance which could be of much more significance to all Canadians such as the Harper Government’s disdain of truth, science, and scientists in general, and this administrations willingness to destroy the reputation of one of the worlds leading laboratories, the Canadian Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg.

Are you aware that this very lab would play a leading role in dealing with any incidents of Camel Dung Mers, should it ever make it's way to Canada! Let's all hope that it survives this government and remains alive and well!

This lab, and it’s most recent leader, Dr. Frank Plummer are both world renowned particularly for their work on HIV in Africa. This work on HIV alone makes this lab of great significance to this particular community. Here’s some reading highlight the current situation.

Our present government seems bent on putting a political person or civil servant in charge of this world renowned laboratory, rather than a respected scientist who could provide logical direction for such a world-class facility of this kind.

A couple of very recent examples of similar irresponsible actions by our government in relation to knowledge were the abandonment of decades of research on fallout at the Experimental Lakes project North of Thunder Bay to save a measly 2 million and just last week the abandonment of decades of research into the Hump-Back Whale Study, most likely simply to facilitate getting the crude oil pipeline to the Pacific Coast - or in other words, screw the science, screw the whales, and screw the West Coast environment, just get that oil on it‘s way to Asia to make the business community more happy (wealthy)!
