  • If SRS were fully covered by OHIP/Medicare....

A serious question (actually two) for our tgirl members:

If SRS were fully covered by OHIP/Medicare -- with no extra costs that you had to pay yourself (as you do now ) -- and you also could find other work that pays as well as escorting does now... would you remain an escort?

I have heard tgirls say that they only escort to pay for their SRS, and/or because they can't get decent work in other professions. Hence the reason for my questions.

    hmmm...

Well.. I do what I do because it's enjoyable, lucrative and part of my lifestyle.. I'm not doing the bottom surgery and plan on sticking with being me for several years.. Inevitably I will start some other type of business.. Maybe a few years from now..

Getting a "Job" would be something I would only do out of desperation as a last resort.. lol..

Here in British Columbia SRS is covered by medical.. you only pay for the hormones.. if your income is low everything is subsidized or free.. You're eligible for top surgery after 1 year on hormones and full srs after 2 years.. They pay for boobs up to 450CC and SRS, your flight to Montreal and many other things if you milk the system..

I pay for all my own shit..

Personally I do not support SRS or Top Surgery being covered by medical.. I don't think it's society's responsibility to pay for the costs of people changing cosmetic aspects of their gender.. I'm also against people sitting on welfare claiming "Gender Disphoria" prevents them from getting a job.. Society should not have to carry this burden.. It's compounded when you get drug addicted whores that sit on welfare for years and then get their SRS paid for while they've screwed taxpayers out of all they can..

Getting a job that pays more than welfare is easy.. getting one that pays as good as escorting.. that requires a considerable effort, strength, education and ambition.. If you have no skills don't expects better than minimum wage..

I don't think any person who perceives themselves as a woman in transition would choose a life of being bought and sold , waiting in hotel rooms for random strangers to show up and have sex, or travelling at odd hours out to unknown guys hotel rooms for sex if there was a better more dignified way of making good money and having a real "normal" life working a normal job with normal relationships.
No doubt many who start out with the intention of a fast track to their SRS and feminizing surgeries get side tracked because of the money and other aspects of an escort's lifestyle.

As for fully funded SRS/GRS I agree with it on more of a graduated coverage scale based on a person's income and ability to pay for some, all or none of it themselves. As this is seen as fixing a birth deformity/abnormality in women genuinely suffering from gender dysphoria. As for other things like breast augmentation and facial feminization not so much as genetic women do not have coverage for elective cosmetic surgeries to correct small breast size or other masculine and femininely unattractive features.

For me, the cost isn't really the issue, and as far as escorting goes, I value it because it gives me the free time I need to pursue other projects, and the money to invest in them. That free time is the most valuable part of escorting, in my opinion; I have the qualifications to get a good "regular" job, but actually doing so would be a stupid decision, as I know it wouldn't have the ratio that I need. I probably wouldn't get the surgery until I could have an actual vagina grown for me and successfully transplanted, sans uterus/ovaries, and my only real motivation for doing so would be making escorting more convenient for me. As far as my perception of myself goes, I already see myself as being completely female, and don't particularly care if x percentage of society disagrees with me, because I know that arguing with them is pointless, and I have no desire to associate with them to begin with.

          humm

This is fun for me because I have 2 full-time jobs and just graduated from 2 years in college. I do this for fun on the side and simply because I can.

Here, (Ontario, srs is covered, and hormones are covered if you have your doctor fill out the right paperwork, I don't need to pay for mine).

Escorting helps make life a lot less stress free, and can speed up a transition, but it isnt a stable and primary source of income.

On a a different level, i wish hair removal/tracheal shave were covered by the gov't - one girl was telling me 20 years ago -- breast augmentation was once covered.

Transitioning expenses are more than just srs
