First of all congrats! Secondly I wouldn't share anything of happiness or progress in your life with an audience such as this. There are people who will express and share that happiness with you and congratulate you BUT there is ALWAYS going to be the ones who will try and drag you back down to whatever level they feel you should be at. I am not sure why some people have to be so negative about everything?
Usually when someone announces their engagement people will talk, but it is not so openly criticized out of respect.
Not to mention, stating the obvious.
