R.I.P. Rob Ford Dies at 46 of Cancer

Well one of Canada's most colourful and controversial mayors has passed away today at 46.
Condolences and prayers to his family & friends.
He was definitely the guy that people loved or hated.

Your thoughts on his political career as Toronto's mayor?
Inspite of the controversy over some of his personal struggles & addictions he definitely seemed to have won the hearts of many in Toronto and obviously had a number of accomplishments in improving Toronto? Yes? No?

RIP Rob Ford. One of Canada's greatest politicians. If you look past the scandal, he really was for the people. He was brash but worked for the common man. He loved Toronto.

RIP Rob Ford. IMHO he really did improve things for T.O. He didn't care much for the media and who can blame him? Strangely we don't see CP24 showing up at Kathleen Wynne's residence to greet her in her driveway with camera and questions first thing in the morning..... Hmmmm. He clearly had some demons but let's be real..... who doesn't? Overall I just hope his family can get some space and peace outside of the limelight to grieve.

I think it's natural for people's thoughts to soften towards those who have passed away. To elevate the positive and downplay the negatives as they are no longer a threat ie. in the political realm and no longer affect our lives other than their memories.

Well I guess that's one for the NO! category. I'm only aware of Rob Ford because of the crack scandal not aware of all his other ones. However, I think comparing him to Hitler, who started World War II and incinerated 6 million Jews is a bit of a stretch

Well, people have the right to vote for who they wish. For sure he wasnt Politically correct, but thats a good thing. Rob was a bigger than life figure that most people understood had some issues. I for one never thought he was a bigot. I think he just flaunted and tested the fact he could say whatever he wanted and people still loved him. Immigrants loved Rob. I myself was a big supporter. Politically, he had results. He did have a game plan. Its really sad how his life ended. But at least we have some great memories. Rob tested the boundries of what modern politicians have become- boring, stiff, phoney, and unbearably PC.

Rob Ford himself seemed to me to be a small spoiled child trapped in a man's body. He displayed bully instincts and a complete lack of empathy for his fellow man. Those who disagreed with him were simply branded as elitists. His addictions only made his actions
more brazen.
He was preceded by Klein and Harris, a contemporary of Harper, and succeeded by Trump.
All of whom appeal to people's most base instincts, not realizing they are voting against their
best interests.

Myself, I don't care for beating up the dead. It's tragic for the loss of "almost" anyone in the prime of their life. Will I miss Rob Ford or be sad about his loss...nope! Means nothing to me.

Actually I was aware he was homophobic and anti-LGBT but I don't consider that a "burn in hell" offence as I don't accept the same notion from fundamentalists that all LGBT will "burn in hell". If I felt that way I would say Justin Trudeau and the Liberals should burn in hell for allowing 10s of 1000's of mostly homophobic , anti-LGBT muslim refugees into Canada.
I wish for everyone to "Rest In Peace" other than those who have committed obvious crimes against humanity ie . Hitler, ISIS, Stalin, murderers, etc.
