    Hello All

I searched the forums and did not find any threads regarding this topic. Is this off limits to discuss?! If so, I apologize.

But if not, are there any members that have started this program? How would you go about doing this in Canada? Specifically, anyone in Vancouver have any experience?

Please PM as I know this sounds like a hot potato....or more accurately, a hot delicious tranny load

I rather do this properly with any clinics/doctors that are open to this idea. I rather go on PrEP for a few months than on it for a life time as the urge to bareback is just too strong.

Thank you all for not being judgmental. I just want to stay safe since now science is on our side.

The Google machine is your friend, this is one of the first results for Truvada Canada: https://www.getpreped.ca/how_do_i_get_prep

Good luck, I'd still wrap everything even if I was on that stuff, just not worth the risk of catching all the other stuff that's not covered by Truvada... plus I'd be reluctant to take that shit in the first place with all the potential side effects.... but hey, it's your body, your decision

The big problem is people take this and are engaging in riskier behavior thinking they are safe.

"I am on Prep" is code for "lets bareback". Professionals will deny this until they are blue in the face, but this is the reality here in Vancouver right now.

The other issue is, focus on HIV has people forgetting the other things out there like HEP C and the various STIs we all know about. That to me is more of an issue as it is more common for people have that. HIV rates are pretty low in our country. Men go to test for HIV and don't test for other things, tell each other they are negative, and go at it without thinking of the other things.

Nothing is better than choosing your partners wisely and taking the appropriate safe sex precautions.

PREP is a horrible fucking idea!

Since prep was introduced in the USA the rates of Syphilis, Gonorrhea & Chlamydia have all more than doubled in 3 years!

Guys get on PREP & think that they have nothing to worry about and as a result they spread everything else..

Now that it's in Vancouver where we already have a syphilis & chlamydia epidemic I expect it to cause serious problems..

If someone is on PREP I don't want to see them.. especially if they are men who have sex with men.. yuck..

Safety is important.. if you're seeing multiple partners you need to get tested very often these days..

I've filled out a number of surveys from the CDC and other places doing them expressing my views on this terrible idea that encourages unprotected sex!

STI's are rapidly on the rise & this doesn't help! Play safe & test regularly if you're seeing hookers!

              ^^Alexis is bang on.

Its rapidly growing the "anonymous bareback hookup" culture considerably here in Vancouver. These guys just think HIV is the only thing they gotta worry about (No idea where that mentality comes from), and so Prep is their door to no condoms with anyone and everyone.

She is very smart to turn away anyone that asks for an appointment and says "I am on prep" . In addition to the STIS, they are likely saying it to probe the escort for potential bareback sex.

I compare this in some way, controversially, to these naxalone kits all over vancouver. The more "safety nets" addicts are having, the more of them are taking the risks of fentanyl and we have had record deaths and record ODs the required the administration of this kit , in 2017. A year where they rapidly expanded the availability of these kits.

Cause and affect I guess, right? Sometimes a "solution" actually makes the problem worse because humans take more risks.

Not calling anyone out here but I was wondering if they could pass along some links to reports that have shown a causal link? Or one showing this Vancouver epidemic.
Not saying there isn't any but anytime someone throws out a statistic I get curious.

For my own education. PM is fine if you'd rather.

^I dont believe there has been time to link Prep to STI increases through academic studies. I am sure this will happen at some point.

However, we see it happening on Tinder, at bars, craigslist, etc. "Hey man, i am on Prep". Men are taking far more bareback risks when they are using it, and that naturally increases the risk of spreading undiagnosed STI's in a significant way. Guys are using this as code with one another or to ask escorts for bareback (GG escorts too). It's human behavior to take more risks if there is some perceived safety net.

Just do your part for safe sex and choosing wise partners. And don't think because your partner is on Prep it is license to bareback. Get tested, get your partners tested, and do what you have to do to keep yourself healthy and safe.

                    Some links..

The most recent statistics from the BC CDC Showing steadily increasing rates in MSM & other categories in 2015..

You'll see that the Vancouver region has rates way higher than the rest of the province.. My understanding is that the rates are still increasing at a rate comparable or higher than the 2014-2015 rate of increase.. I'm a sex worker who looks at these things and takes it very seriously, when rates double, risks double..

                    http://www.bccdc.ca/resource-gallery...2015-FINAL.pdf

You'll have to google on your own for the information about increases of STI rates in the USA. I clearly see this as an avenue for guys involved in MSM taking more risks and spreading things into the general heterosexual population via men who are experimenting. The general population doesn't test enough and ergo spreads it around even more..

Whether or not there's a definitive link in PREP causing an increase in STI's could be debatable but my opinion is just that..

Thanks again for all the info and debates. I totally understand the risk of the other diseases too but at least they are curable. HIV is the biggest worry. Personally, the Prep is not being used locally. There is just not that much talent to risk it. Prep would be a bucket list item where I would take it, go to a place like Thailand, Philippines or Brazil and just bareback my brains out for a month especially as a bottom taking creampies with an endless stream of tbabes. At least 5 at a time!! With the 6th one filming the entire event. Then afterwards, when I get hit by a bus, I'm good.

                            Hey,

I am currently on. PrEP. So what you need to do to get it is first have STI testing done and you must have a negative HIV status before a doctor can prescribe it. Also, it is recommended to have your kidney (creatine) levels checked before starting because long term use of PrEP can have an affect on kidney function over times usually 2+ years or more on it. Unless you have kidney problems already you should not have an issue.

However, you have to go get your kidney (creatine) levels check every 90 days (3months) while on PrEP to make sure they are at a healthy level. As if it starts to affect your kidneys it will be a gradual change. So its best to keep monitoring it.

Now what a lot of places fail to tell you about PrEP is that Truvada & the generic version are the exact same pill, but the price is MAJORLY different.

Truvada is $1400 a month for 30 pills
Generic costs me $254 a month 30 pills.

The exact same pill..lol so don't get tricked into thinking you need Truvada when the generic is the same. If taken correctly and consistently, PrEP is 92%?99% effective in reducing your risk for HIV.

For people who take 7 PrEP pills per week, their estimated level of protection is 99%.
For people who take 4 PrEP pills per week, their estimated level of protection is 96%.
For people who take 2 PrEP pills per week, their estimated level of protection is 76%.

I personally decided to start taking PrEP not because I do bareback anal on calls, but I do bbbj's and even though I do not allow cim, I still want my risks which already are low to be EXTREMELY low

A lot of doctors are not certain about how to properly prescribe it and my doctor did not even know what it was used for, but I explained why I wanted it and I already had the bloodwork needed done before seeing him. I have been on it for 2 weeks now. Before I came on this tour I was tested and waited to start PrEP.

When I am home on the East Coast and not touring I will not need to take it. As the site says there are "seasons of risk" and you do not need to take it for life or continue if you are not at risk. It is also best to use condoms while taking it, because there are other STI's that PrEP does not protect you from.

HIV is not the only one that is not curable; there is Hep C and syphillis for example.

The issue with Prep is it leads people to feel bulletproof just like you are saying; you said you would bareback the hell out of escorts who are willing to bareback anyone (which is risky as fuck because you are far from the only one they will do that with). That is why other STI rates are rising, men are increasing their risk factors with it.

We males are often reckless in our pursuit of sexual pleasure.
