I just read that due to a recent court decision, Calgary will have to lower what it charges for escort licences to $100 /year from the current $3600/year. Does anyone think this will help us get more visits from the out of town girls?

Where did you read this. It makes sense that the province would not have the right to discriminate by raising the cost for one occupation while another remains at a low cost. I would like to know more. I am on the west coast now and would love to spend some time in Calgary/Edmonton.

Not quite correct. If this new by law passes, it will be $114 to license as an escort. But, to be licensed you will also have to be working for an escort agency. To license an escort agency will cost $114. Of course if you want to set up an escort agency and license yourself it would cost $228 total.

The hops to jump through will be difficult. Imagine a few girls getting together and have one set up the agency, then they all license themselves under that "agency" but still work independant. Have a phone somewhere were they can leave a voice mail saying where they will be so if they get busted, the "agency" can claim they knew where she was and that would cover her, and save her the fine for working independant. Agency will be required to supply a list of "employees" to the city and ecorts will be required to keep the city up to date as to what agency they work for.

But, it is still a far cry from $3600.

I imagine we will still see the high and unjustified escort rates in this city no matter what. It is ridiculous....lousy escorts, high rates. Need some sanity in this business. LOL

Well that is good news for the Canadian girls.
Still won't legally allow and girls from out of country to escort in Calgary and Edmonton.
The law is not Provincial but it is municipal enforced by the cities.

Not sure how much they enforce it now, but the reason they are changing it is their inability to enforce it.
The only way I know of that they enforce it is by making the papers only allow advertisers with escort ID numbers.
Mostly the whole thing is so that the Calgary and Edmonton police can do a criminal check on the escorts and know they are operating in town.

Just liike every business in Calgary, the Police are short staffed.
The Calgary police have billboard, radio and TV ads all across Canada.
By lowering the cost it is easier and cheaper for them to enforce.
If you can pay a few hundred dollars to avoid a fine of a few thousand, then it is worth it now.

Don't blame the quality of shemale escorts on that law either.
Calgary has grown fast and there just isn't the infrastructure,
plus the way things are there there is other choices for some tgirls other than escorting.
I date a cute Indian tgirl there that won't ever work.
There will be more local girls as time goes on.
Plus some will eventually move there, I keep telling them to.

Calgary ain't that tranny friendly compared to other places.
Just look at the number of TG friendly nightclubs, i think there is one...... I may have to do something about that.
