Tgirl forums 2008-2009 Hockey pool

Lisa asked if we can have a hockey pool on here.

So I have set up a pool at onlinepools.

If you would like to participate:

1. Post here with your team name
2. Send me a PM with your picks and team name by October 24.
3. I will send you a password to the pool once it is set up.

Stats for the whole season will be used but you have 3 weeks to make your picks.

You must pick 4 lines and 2 goalies.
This means:
12 forwards.
8 defensemen
3 goalies

Scoring is as in the attached image.
Total points for the regular season will win.

Trading players in and out from the available players is allowed.
Each team will be allowed 10 trades for the season.
If you run out of trades and you get injuries you are stuck, so be careful with your moves.

I will announce some prizes later.
Overall winner and top tgirl team will be 2 of the categories.

I would like everyone to participate so if you don't know much about hockey that is ok. There is many websites and magazines that can give you a good list of picks.
Anyone who knows some good hockey resources let us know.

We can see how it goes and plan to improve for next year.

Ok, I'm in - I've been playing fantasy pools for years, and I've literally won thousands of dollars while doing so. I didn't do hockey last year - baseball and basketball are my preference, because there are more stats to analyze, which is my main strength. I'm sure I can get back into it, so I'll join anyways.

I'm not fond of the scoring system, however - I prefer Yahoo rotisserie-style pools, where people get points based on their position in a category. Also, why can't we add/drop players? In this format, an injury to one of your top players will pretty much bury you completely. It's also heavily slanted towards pure scorers, which takes a lot of the strategy out of your selections.

One question - if your +/- is negative, do you lose points, or just get a zero?

Lisa asked for a pool, so I will set one up.
It may of late to be changing everything since the season is starting.

I am open to doing differently but if it is alot of work, i just don't really have the time to do it, i can barely keep up with the forum. I am going to have to enter in all the teams and administer it too.

Injuries are just part of the game, just have to consider that when picking.
Alot will probably pick similar players so, many could lose the same guy to injury. Perhaps we can allow a couple back up picks for injury replacement, not sure if the stats can handle this.

Trades are possible but i was thinking of having a trading period during the pool. Maybe have a poll to decide.

Also i do not want to make it too complicated so everyone can join.

I think the +/- is that you get the points if you are positive but i will confirm that.
