  • We need more equality!

I was so happy when Obama won the election.

He is the symbol of equality, emphasizing that race, gender and sexual orientation should NOT be an issue (at least in my case).

Too bad, it is not like that in reality.

Same sex marriage will be banned in California soon.

One of US men's magazines will do a photoshoot in Toronto this Sunday morning. They still need one female model urgently.

They did some search and found me (again) on facebook. I was offered to be posed in auditorial pages , but it was directly cancelled (via e-mail) by the time they know i am not a real woman.

This is really frustrating since i was already looking forward to doing that

But at least, the photographer was honest enough, explaining the situation. So even though i was dissapointed, i do not take it personally.

So, if there is any genetic female model in this forums. You may send your portfolio by e-mail ASAP to [email protected] (he is the one who is in charge of seaching the models, his name is Markus).

But i still can't understand why there are so many discrimination in this what so called "modern, civilized world"...

When do you think a tgirl can pose for Playboy or other men's magazine...?
Or when do you think a transgender can lead the country..??

    Definitely not know!!!

    Too bad really...

      Thx rose

I was a little excited when i wrote this thread.

Some people may not even believe my story.

Even in this forums or within tgirl community, some people want to differentiate between transsexual and transvestite.

      O well..can't help it..

I guess that life is...full of discrimination....

I think there will be progress eventually, but it will take about 10 years. With girls like Nikki around it would probably get going a lot faster.

I am in full agreement with you on this, sensual_lover20!

My time as a participant in the TG scene has not been too extensive, however it is my firm belief that even in the short time I've been around, there has been a shift, subtle though it may be perhaps, in the public perception of the TG community. I can't quantify it or even attach any specfic information to confirm that belief, it is just a feeling or a sense that I have.

So I'd say that yes, there has already been progress, perhaps not a great amount, but as in the past conceptual change in the publics attitude to anything different, has generally been a slow and continuously evolving process.

I'd like to point out that in my brief time here, I feel that Tasha Jones and Amanda Taylor have been at or near the front locally (though Tasha has withdrawn from the spotlight of late).

Amanda's effort in promoting the scene through the Lounge and Goodhandy's could never have been such a success, even a decade ago. Of course I'm basing my comments about the success of these, on other's comments, having never been to either venue in person!

Neither should we forget Victoria's efforts in aiding the local TS community by getting this Forum (tgirlforums.com) off the ground. Without her efforts we would not have this great place today, in which we gather to help each other.

So yes, IMHO things have happened already, and changes will continue in the public's conception I am certain.

I concur too on your placement of Nikki at the forefront of public education in the future!

If a men's magazine is looking for Models on Facebook and not checking their credentials, then they can't be a serious magazine. Is it print magazine or a internet mag?
Not sure how things would have turned out if you didn't tell them and they found out at the shoot, they may have been pissed.

Incidentally TS have appearred in many many men's magazines, in fact I saw my first shemale in Hustler I think. Club magazine has been showing them since the 80's.

However now days TS have their own magazines and websites they can work for. Transformation does photoshoots and shemaleyum.com has been providing adult modelling opportunities for 11 years.
Not to mention Kimber James was just signed to and adult agency.

Discrimination happens everywhere and in all cultures, it is not specifically against TGs always but in any situation where people are different. Animals even discriminate against those who are different.
People are given discrimination by the creator and there is probably a reason for it. Most likely it is for self survivial, to be wary of something different that we don't understand. To some people TS are very different, and others not so much.

When choosing mates we are the most discriminating. Many don't think of it this way but just ask any lonely man if he feels discriminated against.
Everyone discriminates in some way, period.

Marriage is really a religious thing and I cannot see why it makes such a big deal why gays can't marry. Most organized religions are against same sex couples. If you are gay or TG and are very religious, I might question why?

The fact is many people still see TS as men, and in their own way they are right. There is only 2 actuall sexes, male & female.
Some feel if you are born a man, you are always a man which is correct in many ways. However other people believe you can become a woman which is also correct in some ways. Everyone has their own opionion and most are usually right even if you don't agree with them or them with you.
Some feel TG are gay and in some respects they are right. Most TG feel they are straight and in some respects they are right too.

Take a look at Thailand. Ladyboys are accepted in most ways and can work in many different jobs. Ladyboy pageants are more popular than Female pageants in Thailand actually. Part of the reason for the acceptance is that Thai people are very androgenous to begin with. It is also thought that it is more desirable to be a ladyboy there, than a gay man. Additonally since most are Buddhist, they are all very accepting. Plus Buddhism accepts the notion of a third sex.

However Thailand never allows Ladyboys to change their legal sex. So no matter how female you look and how accepted you are, in Thailand your ID will always say Male.

Unfortunately part of the reason that there are so many Ladyboys in Thailand is many poor families felt by brining up their Sons as daughters they would be able to make money for the family in the large sex trade that exists there.

Trangender issues are improving but don't expect this situation ever to be perfect. The TG community will always be a small sliver of society and because of this majority rules, there is not too much you can do about this.
It is almost impossible for a very small group to have equality, simply because they are a very small group against many very large groups.

                  thx for responses!

Yap, it is really annoying some people do not even read our credentials. It is for print ad magazine. And i was the one who tell them that i am not a real woman, within an hour after they're expressing their interest.

I got the cancellation via e-mail within 2 hours
(after being excited for that period imagining me gracing that magazine and using it as my tearsheet in order to penetrate US market next year).

                  I was pissed of course.

The magazine was ok, but yes, it is not Playboy.
I guess they are really in an emergency situation since one model cancelled and need one replacement immediately.

O well....modeling is definitely NOT my luck. I tried it in the past, did not work too well. I have very little luck on that profession.

P.S: i did not know that some shemales have graced men's magazine in the past. Actually, that's a good news. Thx for sharing.

Ok, as time progresses, Do you think it is time for all natural tgirls on those magazine as well....? Just a thought you know....

Now i have more time to reply.

It's really diliberating to know the fact that a tgirl (even though she likes to be called he) is a mayor.
Actually, it almost happened in Toronto as well few years ago (Enza the Supermodel).

So yes i agree, basically there is a progress..but it's so slow...sometimes it can be frustrating.

                    Now about Thailand,
My grandparents' father are from Thailand, so i have thai blood in me, even though i was born and raised in Indonesia.
You are right Admin, Thailand, is not the best, is one of the very best places for transgender people to live.
And since my father is thai, and buddhist, he and his family are much more supportive to me than my mother (she is chinese).
Actually besides being in Canada, i consider 3 other places to live when i stop escorting: Thailand, Spain, and US (ok, i have to admit, i think about Brazil too, the boys are way too hot to be ignored)

Last but not least, since i still think about that photoshoot. I think, they may still accept me if i have boobs, and again..that's discrimination....

So to conclude, as you said Admin: Everyone discriminates in some way, period.

I realize that. Too bad really, but that life is. It can be unfair and sad for certain people.

But hey..life is too short to be sad and to feel mistreated. Le't forget about discrimination for a while and enjoy the weekend !

                    cheers,
                    Tia

Actually a lot of media is using facebook now.
A number of Slice TV shows use it to find people in the locality they are filming. I've been invited to be on one do to my facebook profile. You question it then I found out some friends of mine were found using facebook and actually did one of the shows (they were on "Newlywed, nearly dead" if your wondering)

Never underestimate the evolution of media.

No your right more scouts are finding people on the social networking sites. But I think the adult websites do it even more than paper mags which are probably on the way out. I'll miss those sticky pages.

There is many model sites you can sign up for too, free and paid.

You do seem to have a very flexible look Tia.

I think I got a Myspace invite from Christina Aquilera one time, but I am sure it was just her marketing department. I'm sure she needs as many friends as she can get

                            Thx for ur compliment.

But do not get me wrong...

Actually, i do not mind posing sexy but i am not ready for doing frontal nude unless with few conditions. One of the conditions is:
The image of the magazine is good and upscale, so it will give me an excellent exposure and better image.
(Let say for instance, a model who is offered to pose for Italian Vogue or Sport Illustrated. Money wise they get very little. But the exposure and the image will be excellent).

                            Let's forget about photoshoot.

We have better thing to do here:
                            1. Minimize discrimination in tgirl community
                            2. Creating a healthy, non judmental situation where everybody is free to express his/her opinion without being curse or bullied.
                            3. Promote this forums to larger market, so more and more people will realize that we exist.

So Admin...don't you think this is the time we work together hand in hand in order to create better finance for both of us and to create better image for tgirls in the future...?

                            I have tons of ideas..

I'm waiting for you till u r ready
