  • Should women use photoshop in their photos and ads?

Ok . Considering that this topic has been mentioned again in various threads by the guys and girls here I figured to rehash the poll and see if opinions have changed from over a year ago. Also I made the voting period longer.

This is what I originally said on the first poll way back when and still stick to it.

"Some girls use Photoshop some don't. We all know that guys see girls for the looks and of course girls want to appear immaculate but sometimes too much is too much. Maybe this poll can give both sides ideas as to what each is really looking for?

"Me? I am not a fan of photoshop but dont mind if its used to cover blemishes ...like scars or blurry spots."

To further add, a scar as in a scrape and NOT to change skin tone, blurry as in, you can't tell if its a nose or not.

Is it really a surprise that I'm saying this?

By the way, this poll will be up for 2 weeks and you're only getting one vote.

To the vets.... has your opinion changed from last year??

I do not think my opinion has changed from the last poll but I can not answer today's poll questions because none of the choices really reflect my views. I believe that if a photo is modified so as to deceive the viewer, then the owner has committed a fraud upon the viewer. I suppose the second to last choice on the poll is closest to my belief, but not close enough for me to choose it. So here's my take on manipulation of photographic images.

I do a fair bit of photographic work and I probably do something to modify at least 90-95% of my own photos before saving them. Possibly I'll alter them by cropping out some unwanted part, by lightening or brightening them, adding contrast, changing color balance and unrealistic skin tone caused by artificial lighting, etc. but never do I go so far as to obliterate any part of the original image.

In the case of some girls' [and I'm referring here to both GG and TG] photos e.g., it may be very clearly evident that the waist has been pinched in so as to look almost wasp-like. This would be a prime example of a fraudulent misrepresentation such as I mention above. I believe too that removal of tattoos is also wrong. If a girl's pics show no tats or piercings then she shows up looking like a biker chick covered with ink and with half a pound of metal in her body, I'd be very unhappy about that deception too.

As Pierre has pointed out in another thread today, all photographers do manipulate images, but they do not do so with the intent to deceive! In the past, such manipulation required painting on the negative or some other very painstaking darkroom work and was very time consuming as well. Today, in seconds, the flick of a mouse button does what used to take hours of work. No wonder it has become so common.

Sounds like false advertising to me.

Lipstick, high heels, mascara, hair colour. It's all false advertising if you think about it. My lips aren't that red, so I use lipstick. I'm not that tall so I wear high heels. My eye lashes are not that long, so I wear mascara. I'm not a blonde, so I'll colour my hair.

However, I won't use photoshop to make my lips fuller, my legs longer, my ass fuller, or my boobs bigger. But, I will use photoshop to remove a tattoo I absolutely hate. My reasoning is, I'm getting the actual tattoo removed anyways, so why have photos of it in the meantime?

They should only use photoshop to stretch their penis and make it look bigger. LOL

Myself, I love the all natural look but have no problem with a few touch ups like I said regarding removing of scars or scrapes but anything other than that I'm against it.

What i don't understand cooldude is what you mean by false advertising. Perhaps my example explains what you mean:

If a girl takes their pic, slims their body down 30% or 40% to appear thinner than what they are then yeah...that's definitely false advertising and I don't think anyone would be impressed by that. Is that what you mean by false advertising?

What's impressive is how the vote make up is somewhat similar than last year. Another major difference, no mud slinging among forum members.....yet.

Currently out of the many pics I see I have to admit that Ana from Hamilton has got the best portraits out there.

When it comes to an overall portfolio Sue has got everyone beat hands down.

As to who I think has super hot pics....well.... Lucy, Karolina and Angee.

photoshop should only adjust the level of brightness, contrast and tone of a picture to bring the real beauty of the subject. some pretty girls have nice pictures but they are just badly lit. as for me, i hav a nice camera and i also have great photographers, one of them is pierre, bisous mon ami. and rantsa? thanks for the drawings, no photoshop needed.haha.

theres also nothing wrong with making skin look perfect in the picture, if foundation didnt cover it up.why not photoshop.if there was no sun in the beach, why not make it look like it was sunny. see my pic?hahaha

many girls in the pic may not appear as u expect in person, but i can assure u guys, i know most of the girls, and nobody uses fake pic in the paper nor online, and thats what matters most,. xoxox
