I started to think about what it would be like to go to Thailand. I have never been there before but I wonder if you could find a girl for a relationship there or is it mainly for sex trade work. Well if you are looking for a tgirl for a relationship, Bangkok is not the best place to start. In my experience most of the tgirls working in Bangkok are not looking to find a relationship. Most are more like the escorts you find in Toronto that way, they are all business. However they won't mind you sending them money. That being said, Bangkok is not to be missed for tgirl experiences, this is where the hottest tgirls are overall.

If you are looking for a tgirl for a relationship, the best place to go is to go to "Walking Street" in Pattaya. More of the tgirls (and girls) in Pattaya are there to find a "Farang" (Thai for foreign dude) to take care of them.
Pattaya has more tgirls per square inch than anywhere else in the world. Pattaya is cheaper than Bangkok and attracts many from the poorer rural population. These rural types tend to be more loyal and family oriented than the city girls.

That being said, most of the tgirls there were sent by their families to work in the Bars and send back money to the family. Sometimes they even have a boyfriend back home that makes them do it, but this is more often the case with genetic girls. If you find a tgirl who does not have a regular bar to work in, there may be a reason, however they may still freelance elsewhere.

The tgirls mostly work in the bars and often perform shows there. They also keep customers company and entertain them by doing shows too. Generally they are expected to go home with customers if asked because the bar makes a fee (bar fine) when this happens. Most tgirls would like to find a farang that will get them away from this, but then you will have the obligation to help her send money to her family. Plus while you are in Thailand with her or her family, you pay for everything.

In Thailand "working" is not looked upon as badly as it is in our society so you may find the majority of tgirls have gone this route. There is not too much discrimination there against Ladyboys, so they are able to get other jobs fairly easily but he sex trade always pays much more.

Since Thailand has a higher population of tgirls than any other country, of course there is a large number of "non working" tgirls. Since ladyboys integrate into society very well there, it is not likely that you will be in a situation to meet a tgirl like this. There is also a good chance that tgirls like this will have a boyfriend because there is really no stigma associated to have ladyboy in Thailand. This is unlike Phillipines where TS are much less accepted and there is a stigma involved, partially the difference in religions accomplishes this.

Your best bet, as i say, is Pattaya.
It is a super fun place and the hotels are really cheap.

Well, Craigyb certainly gave you good advices.One more thing to know is that when you bring her accross the ocean, she expects you to support her completely, and that includes her family back in Thailand.They are very loyal to their roots.

You can't really understand what Thailand is about until you go. It is a world sex trade capital (especially BKK and Pattaya etc) and farangs are seldom welcomed into real Thai society. So expect to pay to play for your pleasures.

Interesting to note that ladyboys have been part of Thai culture for hundreds of years so that's why there's no stigma.

Important advice. Go at the right time of year like November – January – otherwise the heat will be suffocating. And make the trip about more than just sex -- starting with food as Thailand has unbelievable cuisine.

BTW: The recent political demonstrations make it a dicey time to travel there until things clear up. A lot of tourists got trapped in BKK for weeks.

I can understand the fascination with Thai and Phil's since they seem to be all over the net. I would be concerned with STD's and sex ed in poorer countries where the almighty greenback would take prescedence over life. just a thought i may be way off base here. anyone have thoughts along this?

Glad to see your out of the hospital. I'm pretty sure HIV is rampant (or higher than most countries) in Thailand, so I would definitely watch out for that if I went. I was more concerned with regards to non sex trade workers and relationships with foreigners.

Well you have to be willing to sponsor them completely to come to Canada but they have to be able to get a visa. If Canadian Immigration thinks they are a bar worker or the like there is a good chance they won't get a tourist visa. So they have to work a job for a while and be stable to get into Canada. I understand many tgirls work at one of the 7-11's in Pattaya for a while, and they are able to get a visa. However some of the tgirls that work the bars also have part-time regular jobs too, since the bars never open until dark generally.

The STD stats are not that much higher than North America, the Thais are very educated about this type of thing. However we are talking about Red light districts here and that is obviously more dangerous.

In Pattaya many tgirls come there only to find a steady boyfriend but they have to work in the bars and/or see many men to accomplish this, as well as send money back to the family, which they always have to do.
The relationship minded ones will usually try and get you to go out and visit their family in a remote village. Try to avoid this until you get to know them better, although it can be interesting. But always remember the Farang pays for everything as far as family activities goes, restaurants don't even ask who the cheque goes to if there is a farang around.

You just have to go there for fun the first time, then you will understand alot better. Pattaya has all the comforts of home too.

A few things to consider

I lived in Bangkok for two years in the nineties, and I'd say that you have a pretty hopeless task if you're looking for a real relationship. I suppose it's possible, but only if you put in a heroic amount of effort.

The cultural divide is enormous, you have to live there a long time, get fluent in a very difficult foreign language and have Thai friends who trust you enough to teach you their culture. The Thais are friendly and respectful of foreigners, but not real trusting. They call foreigners "falangs" and regard them with some parts hero worship and some parts resentment. Hero worship because they think every American (or Canadian, etc) is as rich as Donald Trump. Resentment because the foreigners are generally there to earn a big living and live like colonial masters or else spend alot of cash having a wild time on vacation.

If you're only there a few weeks, I'd say find a working girl who you like, rent her for the duration and pretend it's a real relationship.

One good thing to keep in mind - prostitution is illegal there, believe it or not. It's how the police supplement a meager salary, and the bribes go all the way to the top. And the police are a part of the military, and the military controls everything. That's kind of simplified, but not much, at least from 15 years ago. One story from back then - a big general was at the Montien hotel, very fancy expensive hotel, in the karaoke lounge. Some guy wouldn't give up the microphone to the general, and he sent one of his gunmen over and shot the guy dead.

Ya you are certainly hard pressed to find a tgirl relationship in Bangkok.
Most of Bangkok is comprised of the rich and middle class of Thailand generally. Most of the tgirls from other parts of thailand go to Pattaya to find men, unless they can make it in Bangkok, however most of the poorer rural tgirls are not accepted there.

Especially the tgirls that come from Isaan are alot simpler.
I've been to two Festivals in Surin & Buriram and both were crawling with non-working tgirls. Most would be easy pickings for a farang.

In many villages the hair salon often is run by a tgirl or has ts employees. You will find them working in almost any business around the area. You don't see many girls "working" in these areas since most will travel to one of Thailands Red light spots to ply their trade if they choose to do so. Funny story from Bangkok

I worked in a highrise downtown, on Petburi road. On the second floor was this pharmacy, and a pretty obvious tgirl working the counter. One day I had a headache and went there to get some aspirin. No aspirin, the shelves were nearly bare. I don't know what the story was at that place, but it was the worst pharmacy in medical history. Most pharmacies there have shelves overflowing, virtually everything is sold over-the-counter.

The farther out you go in the hinterlands, the less they speak english, too. Getting a small-town tgirl is one thing, communicating meaningfully with her will be something else.
