Can we stop with this Happy Holiday crap already. Let's call the holiday what it is Christmas. I have many friends from all different nationalities & religions. I don't call up my Hindu friends on Diwali & say "happy holidays" I say Happy Diwali, on Eid I wish my Muslim friends a Happy Eid, I wish my Jewish friends a Happy Rosh Hashanah (Chanukah is a very minor Jewish Holiday, most Jews in Israel don't even celebrate Chanukah & Chanukah isn't even in the Torah).

I am aware of Christmas' pagan roots & how Christianity Christianised numerous winter festivals & the birthdays of pagan Gods (Frey Nordic God, Roman God Mithras, Greek God Dionysus, Roman Saturnia festival, etc) in order to make it easier for new converts. However Christmas is now a Christian holiday so let's wish our Christian friends a Merry Christmas. The last census showed that the vast majority of Canadians are at least nominally Christian. Also Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet and the Koran identifies him as the Messiah, so Muslims shouldn't be offended it someone says Merry Christmas. I have never been offended if someone wished me a Merry Christmas & I am an an atheist.

For the record I am an atheist I just like to call things by their proper name regardless whether I personally believe in them.

I'm no Rabbi but here is a tidbit about Rosh Hashanah and it's dates. Rosh Hashanah will occur on the following days of the Gregorian calendar: Jewish Year 5770: sunset September 18, 2009 - nightfall September 20, 2009. The miracle of Hanukkah is described in the Talmud (second to the Torah), I wouldn't quite discredit it like that. I beg to differ that it is a minor holiday, it is both culturally and religious embedded in the Jewish faith. For the record, I'm agnostic.

Couldn't agree more. It is the cherry on the politically correct- middle aged- angry -lesbian-do gooders' cake, that they have managed to neutralize 'the white mans' [ and womens] major celebratory festival, insisting that they share it with every other group on Earth. Groups who would die for the cause if a Christian told them that they couldn't wish their brethren the appropriate greeting during the celebration of their own festival [ rightly so too].
I am an Atheist but MERRY CHRISTMAS everybody.
you're only as sick as your secrets.

Based on your recent events I would think you could be alot less cheerful, good to see that you can feel good about life.
                            Keep it up.
