  • Monkey Pox

Anyone taking a break from the hobby with the current Pox situation ? I know in BC ,providers are being offered vaccine ahead of everyone else . Curious how many have taken to getting vaccinated.

They don’t ask you online/in person if you’re hooking up with someone of the same gender or trans
think some locations are getting booked up quickly but got mine last Thursday. Had some side effects from it.
You don’t need to even present msp or ID.

In New Brunswick where I live there is zero cases. I’m not worried considering most of my clients are regulars. If they start giving vaccine here for it, I’d get it just as a precaution, however, I still haven’t had COVID lol…and I get my fourth dose of that vaccine next week.

I will get vaccinated once it has more availability. From what I read , it’s not something one wants to contract . And good for you Genevieve for being proactive. I hope most people at risk in BC are doing the same .

What side effects did you have? Also I read that if someone had taken the smallpox vaccine it prevents that person from getting monkeypox as smallpox and monkeypox virus are related. I don't know how true it is. I've had the smallpox vaccine so hopefully I'll be okay.

without this thread becoming political or claiming to know what I’m talking about I would just refer you to a local healthcare practitioner to answer your smallpox vaccine question

I had chills. There was a heatwave over the long weekend here in Vancouver so the side effect was very apparent. You might feel achy, everyone will react differently.

I received my Vaccine and had zero side effects....the only one was soreness at the injection site for about 4 days.

Big joke , right ? That didn’t take long . But I know providers are likely to see a hit on their income with this as clients become more cautious.

Yeah the scary part is that 99% who get monkeypox are gay or bisexual men. I don't want people to look at me funny when I get monkeypox. Unlike Covid you can't hide the scabs on your face and body.

That’s what I am saying . It is making clients think twice about seeing providers . Because you can’t hide the fact you have it if you get it . Will get the vaccine when I can .
