  • Advice for post-surgery recovery?

Now that I've finished my degree, I've decided to give myself a graduation gift. Well, two graduation gifts, to be more precise. . .

On April 30, I'm going to get my first set of breast implants.

I've been considering it for a while, but I wanted to wait until I had developed enough natural tissue to cover them nicely. I'm going to go from a small B-cup to a full C-cup, and I'm very excited - but I'm really worried that something might go wrong. Specifically, I'm worried about capsular contracture.

    Anyways, here are the details:

390cc, cohesive gel, round & smooth, moderate/low profile
Performed by Dr. Ronald Levine under general anaesthetic
    Periaeriolar incision (through the nipple)
    Subglandular placement (above the muscle)

So I've done a lot of reading online, which might not be the best idea - the thought of capsular contracture simply terrifies me. What can I do to avoid it, or at the very least, minimize my chances of getting it?

Any advice you can be provide would be great - I have two weeks under I go under the knife, and I'd like to prepare as much as possible beforehand.

    Thanks!

You must be terrified. This is one of the few times that you have made a typographical error. Tsk Tsk.

Nikki my advice is to get only one tit done! Then after a year or two if you like the result of the one breast? Then get the 2nd breast done.

      Just my two cents!

Ok, I'll do one side, but you have to do the other side on yourself. Then, we can compare our results!

          I certainly hope so!

In fact, that's why I started this thread - I was hoping to hear from other girls who have gone through it before, and get an idea of what to expect during recovery. One girl has already been very helpful, and I'd like to get as much info as possible; so please, if you have any advice whatsoever, I'd really appreciate it.

          Ten days to go!

ok nikki since i have had experience with this doctor twice i will try and give u the best advice. under the muscle(subglandular) is safer to prevent capsular contracture then over the muscle> over the muscle gives you a higher risk of developing capsular contracture and you also need to take into account the way the incision is made. I unfortunately had the incision under the breast on my first set and because of that i did develop some scar tissue where my old incision was> proper care is vital massaging evryday three times a day and make sure you are eating healthy and taking care of yourself while you are healing. that in itself will promote good healing. the risk goes alot higher when they are placed over the muscle but is still for me quite low so i took that option as i wanted a more natural look and cleavage. remember as i said alot of it has to do how it is placed and where the incision is made and neglecting and improper post surgery care will just put you at risk> Take my advice it sounds better than O.C's lol! xoxo alyssa

I'd lend a therapeutic hand if I could Nikki.

In any case we'll look forward to the "NuNikki".

Best wishes for a speedy return.

Thanks hun, you've been amazing lately, and you've been such a huge help through the whole process. I really appreciate it!

Fortunately, my sweetie has already agreed to be my "Designated Boobie Massager" to help me with my post-operative care. Hey, rubbing boobies three times a day is a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it!

Thank you, I'm planning to take off the entire month of May, but if I'm feeling better earlier than that, I might show off the twins at the Goodhandy's 3rd Anniversary!

One week to go, and I'm very, very excited!

Thank you, and I hope that the big decision you've made for yourself gives you everything you want as well. Just be sure to think it through, because I wouldn't want it to cause pain and misery for everyone else.

Well, it's only hours away now, but I'm feeling surprisingly calm. I wonder, should I feel nervous about the fact that I don't feel nervous?

Time to go to bed. . . I'll be back online when I've come down from the painkillers, and I'll let you all know how things went. Take care!
