So about a month ago I got wind of the Toronto Dragball 2009 at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre Sunday June 14. Tickets were $30 available at the Stag Shop. Went downtown, bought my ticket (ticket #001 - Woo hoo!) thinking it would be a fun night out, perhaps even a chance to meet some of the lovely ladies in a more social setting. (Goodhandys is great, but I always get the feeling a number of the girls there are "on the clock".) Ticket says 7:00.
Get there for 7:00. 8:00 comes along, then about 8:20 the hostess/MC for the show begins with the preamble that the show will go on, even though all the contestants/performers who confirmed the night before decided to no show.
I heard there was politics and accusations and other stuff as to the reasons for the almost literal walkout, but come on! People shelled out good money to see the show, the performers did make the committment to show up. Regardless of politics and in-fighting, did these girls not understand that in the eyes of the people who paid to see the show, it is not the show organizers but they themselves who look bad?
