Yum, a good place to eat in Toronto?

Here's one of my favorite topics: a good place to eat in Toronto. An old high school buddy came into town (we're both from the east coast) and I was trying to think of good and inexpensive places to eat around town. We went to Burrito Boyz yesterday and I hope to take him to Amato Pizza soon.

Anyone out there can name a good place to munch?

You have the beaches>king st strip,college street strip,yorkville strip,baldwin strip,bloor west strip and of course the queen street strip- i can go on all night it could take u a year to enjoy what Toronto has.....god im home sick xxx alyssa

houstons (on younge near king) is a good rib and steak house but you have to be in the right company.

If you want an excellent Tuscan meal try Tutti Matti on Adelaide near Spadina. It's pricey but outstanding.
Black Camel across from the Rosedale TTC station has amazing sandwiches.

Snoodle, Toronto rules dining. However, Montreal does have Au Noir, Moishe's and some great deli's.

I was in Montreal years ago. I miss Ben's and locals told me to try Bar B Barn. That was a good place.

I like to try different stuff, everything from burritos, sushi, shwarma, dim sum, etc. Still looking for a good dessert place with an awesome cheesecake!

You will find the best desserts usually come from a few places. Pickle Barrel gets their cakes from La Rocca which distributes their cakes across many large and independant shops. Another famout dessert shop is Dufflet who also distributes but you can try their local shop north of yonge and eglington. Phipps is also well recognized. Frangipane at dupont and davenport make the greatest fruit tarts around in Toronto. The best cupcake is arguably the cupcake shoppe north of yonge and eglington. I am sucker though for open window bakery chocolate cupcakes. I also love local Jewish desserts like chocolate bubka and rugulach sold in places like what a bagel. For chinese desserts the best buns are made in a place called richmond court in richmond hill and the sugar makes good traditional chinese desserts which is located at leslie and finch. Go to the danforth for some baklava or the old coffee mill if your craving a nice hungarian palascintia. Some nice indian galub jamun all tastes the same everywhere I go. I can probably go on forever on this, but check out chowhound for this information. I am an avid food critic

Movenpick used to be amazing, but now its changed

Always got food on my mind. I tried that new Wanda's Belgian Waffles on 335 Yonge Street. It was pretty good.

Alyssa1 you are dead on about New York Subway. Place looks like a sh**hole, the guy cooking the food looks and sounds kinda like the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld, but I drive 30 min to downtown just for the chicken satay burritos!

Can also try Hernando's Hideaway on Yonge just south of Wellesley, eat side, walk down the stairs to get to it. Had a friend come up from Mexico, she said it was food just like Mom makes back home.

There are dozens if not hundreds of great places. If you're really into it, then get into Chowhound.com for the scoop on all the little nooks and restos in TO and elsewhere.

I'll give you one. John's Classic Pizza at College at Clinton -- generally considered the best slice in the city (far better than Amato's).
