I'll give you one. John's Classic Pizza at College at Clinton -- generally considered the best slice in the city (far better than Amato's).
I am an avid chowhound member also, but different handle name. You would think I spend enough time on here how could I find time on chowhound. For pizza, I think Panago beats Amato anyday. Terroni's makes a great pizza at their Adelaide location at least. I really like the traditional Chicago style pizza though at some restaurant in Maple. Worth the drive!

Can also try Hernando's Hideaway on Yonge just south of Wellesley, eat side, walk down the stairs to get to it. Had a friend come up from Mexico, she said it was food just like Mom makes back home.
I love Mexican but I did not consider Hernando's to be the greatest but could be what I ordered or the night.
My favourite Mexican place in Canada is Juan's in Calgary.

But in Toronto I love to get a Rueben at Druxy's.

A special treat however is the Canolies at the bakeries in Little Italy

I tried them as well, around the start of the summer. My waffle was sadly very dry tasting and hard though. I think she overcooked it a little bit. I guess she might have been distracted as I was there at around 10am with like six lesbians.

Best meal out in Toronto I've had recently was at a little Japanese place at the food court in Village by the Grange, actually. It's called Manpuku. I'm a really big Japanese Curry and Rice fan though, so it might not be for everyone. Was nice to grab some Japanese without having to wait a long time, or have it busy.

          the best meals

not being such a fan of food at all, i kinda take or leave it, but for me the ebst meals are the ones spent with a friend. the venue becomes insignificant, unless the service is total crap. a good meal spent with someone else changes everything, wether it is a steak at houstons or ribs at a ribfest in the rain the chit chat makes the food taste better.
          according to some, not trangendered

I love Amato's. I miss the pizza pies that Pizza Hut used to make years ago.

Druxy's Deli in Eaton Centre downstairs makes an awesome Reuben Sandwich. They have other locations but that one seems to be the best.
