I wouldnt say he blew it Yang played great on a tough course with tough conditions.

Why doesnt the PGA have the same rules as the LPGA? Because the LPGA was desparate for the smallest thing that could attract even the smallest number of viewers. The PGA has pleanty of viewers and simply wants to have the best in the world to show up and compete. The same way the NHL wants all the best players. Regardless it was a great day of golf.

i threw an email of support to the lpga but they also backed down.
i guess it comes down to who is best no matter what. i think it was yang who beat out tiger before on his only pga win.

anyway doll we have to do that golf thing and a bit more. nudge nudge know what i mean.keep well Lisa

I don't get what speaking English has to do with playing golf. He played great in any language. I'd much rather listen to him through an interpreter than have to listen to John Daly mangle the language. Sorry, just the way I am.

i disagree totally sorry but it did take away any raw emotion i wanted to hear after knocking off the greatest golfer of all time nobody else could do it but he did and did it in style. if PGA players want to make a living on the tour then they should have to speak english period

Lisa, I normally take your side on most things but I am not so sure on this one. Now I don't know anything about this dude, but unless he is living in, or a citizen of, an English speaking country I see no reason why he must be able to speak English to qualify for the PGA. It's not the ESPGA. I will say that learning a little English certainly might be beneficial to him if he continues to play in English speaking countries.

i am torn over this issue. i agree with both sides.
i think athletes should transcend any language. who knows maybe there is a golfer ten times better than tiger in some country where english isnt spoken. but on the other hand we are in a predominantly english speaking country.

question. could an actor become super famous if they could not speak english?

english seems to be the language of global business, except for the green back of course.

where i work it is very multicultural. my work requires that everyone be able to communicate. my place told everyone english is the language of our office.
an example. someone from another place did something that is going to cost the firm $20k. the reason this happened is because of a lack of english and communication and following procedures.

i also believe there are language restrictions on pilots so they can unerstand what the control towers are telling them.

as i said torn on this issue.

everyone has the right to work and learn and prosper. it pisses me off when people have to have translators when they sign on for UIC. how did they work.

but thats just me. live and let live.

BTW Lisa, i need to get some ready funds in. Can i learn to work?

There is a significant difference between a pilot needing to be able to communicate with the air tower, thus needing to legislate an agreed upon language, and playing a sport for a living. I am the biggest sports fan in the world, but no matter how much we sometimes scream when watching our favourite team this is not a matter of life and death. To quote John Kruk when they were down to the last game in the World Series when a reporter asked him how he felt about the game Phillles in a do or die situation. "Someone is going to die. How sad" said with his voice dripping with sarcasm.

Lets be honest if they required them to speak English we wouldnt have seen those great shots on Sunday. I would rather watch great competition than listen to pro athletes give us the usual clich?s in an interview after they win.
