Have to admit when asked Zeppelin still ranks as my favorite band ever. Even if they were known to steal other bands music. Apparently they often paid bands off when they were caught stealing riffs.

Well that's pretty much every rock band from past to present, stealing riffs that is.. Some may deny it but listening to their music closely it's clear as day.

Then of course there's the hip hop scene and the whole issue of "sampling".
