  • Phoning it in 😭

About a year ago, I got into a conversation with a forum member about my rates and his belief that they were too high. Given where the world is headed and how competitive the economy is these days, 400 for an hour doesn’t even come close to making this industry worthwhile.

There are so many hidden costs that come along with this line of work. I’m definitely not the person to comment on the state of service-providers as a whole, but even with my limited experience I can see this is a dying industry.

For the domme/top girls this is an entirely different story. I am not fully functional and that right there limits my clientele, but I am just not wired to be a top. There will for sure be providers who excel, but for me I am at the point where I will likely take down my ad, and focus on seeing a handful of existing clients instead.

I actually really enjoyed meeting some cool people through this, but there are so many flakes and time wasters that I’m better off returning to the blue-collar field 😭

Long story short, I’ll be back to welding soon 🤣 I recently started a course on TIG welding and have always been a sucker for building stuff outta metal. Maybe my only advice to the clients out there is be careful with who you solicit services from, but once you find a good provider, definitely stick with them.

It really sucks where the world is headed. TBF, these are all first world problem. That being said, when I was in my early 20s I feel like there was so much more money to throw around. I wasn’t escorting 5 years ago, but I had a simple job and was able to pay rent, go out once in a while, afford a motorcycle and car.

What do y’all think? I’ve traveled a bit here and there and feel in Europe there are cities with way better sex industries. Even when I was in the UK, I felt like there was more opportunities for tgirls there.

When you say it is a dying industry, what do you think the battle is being lost to? Onlyfans? Camming? The cost of living?

Especially around here I have noticed the appetite for guys who want to bottom is much larger than I see in the general dating pool, so what you say about it being a different story for tops sounds accurate. Someone here also said to me once “guys get addicted to their tops” and there’s something to that.

Everyone loves bottoming haha. I get it, cuz I have never been a top either loool.

But probably just cost of living. I feel worse for the girls in their early 20s. I am almost 30 and I get that every generation says the same thing as they age, but holy shit stuff is getting so expensive. I can't really see how we can continue down this path. People just don't have the same disposable income when compared to a decade ago.

I've said this on other topics and will say again. As someone who came from Brazil the sex industry here is a shame, to be kindly put.

I don't know if this is a good assessment, but I feel like Torontonians (didn't have any exp outside Toronto) don't like, don't want or don't know how to fuck. There is a lot of bureaucracy, from both sides, for a very mild or bad sex. Now, when you add this to the cost of living, stressful life, dating apps where you can hookup with someone, the industry will start to fade slowly.

I've met a lot of sex workers and befriended some as well, and they all say this is not an easy industry despite the fact they like what they do. However, for them it was the only way for them to make a good income, since they didn't have any proper education or came from a poor family. Here in Canada is a bit different because you are not only able to have a living income, or was at least, but also Canadians are more open hire trans people and accept them as part of the society. Latinos are not the open and often cast them away, hence the amount of trans sex workers coming from Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, etc.

You seam to be a smart and well educated girl, I also saw some post from you about your love for cars. My suggestion is; invest on that and be happy with your choices. I feel like you can make a career in metal work. Something we can't exact say about sex industry.

I’ve heard Toronto is a crummy city for dating and there’s many cities in the states where trans girls get more love, not that I’ll be visiting the USA any time soon.

I find the general dating pool here to be very low effort for the most part.

The vast majority of people are worse off economically than we were pre-pandemic. That's a fact. Purchasing power has been drastically diminished.

You have every right to say that for you personally 400/hour isn't enough due to rising living costs, the increasing cost of accommodations to work, and the logistic costs of being a sex worker like actually generating real bookings which you aren't paid for. However, clients are feeling the same pressures and that's why you get the pushback to meet what's considered the "standard rate". I and a lot of others here are obviously living comfortably enough to throw some money around to experience service providers, but I think most agree that currently 300 is the number that we're comfortable with for these luxury experiences.

Let's be real. Most men who explore sex work with transwomen are very interested in their cocks. This is true even of myself who is a top only. They want to explore their sexuality discreetly without needing to openly identify and face homophobia. Men cannot yet explore themselves in this way without risking doors being closed. You can argue this is a form of cowardice and I won't disagree with you, but that is why women like you have a harder time compared to fully functional providers at higher rates.

Lastly, I think it's good for you to develop a career outside of sex work even if you choose to still participate in sex work part time or online only. I don't know any trans sex workers well, but I've seen cis providers become trapped in this industry and it is incredibly sad. They're good people who made a decision when they were too young to understand the consequences, eventually realize that there is a different life that they truly want, but it is essentially out of reach. Even you don't know what you'll want in 5, 10, 20 years from now.

I think you're doing the right thing. Best of luck to you

I totally agree with this. I was in South America years ago for NYE and the scene is totally different.

Toronto is just not the right kind of city. But this is like, a big scale issue. I’m being picky, because for sure it can be decent money. But, for me it isn’t worth it.

Given how flakey guys have become, it’s pretty difficult to justify the time and effort. I think I also get greedy, because I know I have good clients, but then will take a chance and wait up for a new client who doesn’t show 🤣

At the end of the day I just don’t have the time or patience for it. But I also acknowledge it’s sometimes the only option.

I get where you’re coming from. I totally am aware that $400 is no small fee for an hour of sex. It’s tricky, and we are all in the same boat.

Unfortunately, sex work just won’t be attainable at this rate for the clients IMHO. And dating transwomen is still frowned upon if you are a straight guy.

I have a degree of empathy for trans attracted men, although sometimes my empathy is hard to find given the current political climate. But emotions aside, this is a strange time to be alive.

Yeah in terms of legit dating this city is pretty awful 😭 when I’m overseas it’s a lot more fun (although that might have been placebo)

Totally understandable. I prefer to top, so I guess that puts me in a smaller group. Gotta say it's disappointing though that you're considering leaving the industry, as I found your ad super intriguing and was just hoping you'd either do some visiting down the 401 or I could find some time to make it to the GTA.

I have connected with 4 trannys over grinder and the cost was zilch nada. Try lowering your prices to something reasonable in these tough economic times $150? Times are changing we can get action for free.

Say sex work is your means of income, and getting paid cash, wouldn’t welfare benefits be paying for your rent?

Can I ask, are you quite attractive? Are you hung?

Were these girls very passable? Have they had many surgeries?

most girls I know have to make some income off their sex life just due to the cost of transitioning. It’s pretty rare to find tgirls who have substantial careers due to the lack of opportunity for transwomen.

$150 wouldn’t even cover a seedy room in a low end hotel.
