      • Day 2 - Saint Etienne

Formed by former music journalists Saint Etienne were a highly conceptual group. The trio's concept was to fuse the British pop sounds of '60s London with the club/dance rhythms and productions that defined the post-acid house England of the early '90s.

          • Day 3 - Southern Culture on the Skids

True to their name, North Carolina's Southern Culture on the Skids offers an affectionate parody of local white-trash trailer-park culture, matching their skewed outlook with a wild, careening brand of rock & roll. SCOTS' music is a quintessentially Southern-fried amalgam of rockabilly, boogie, country, blues, swamp pop, and chitlin circuit R&B, plus a liberal dose of California surf guitar, a hint of punk attitude, and the occasional mariachi horns.

                • Day 4 - Ursula 1000

Ursula 1000 is a stylish American DJ who spins and produces sampladelic easy listening breakbeat tracks in a style similar to continental popsters. Born Alex Gimeno, he was raised in Miami, where he studied commercial art and owned an underground comic-book store before joining a local band. Determined to make some money from his enormous record collection, Gimeno soon fused his fanatical love of music and pop culture to birth Ursula 1000.He bought turntables and a mixer, learned to spin, and began DJing at both a local college station and Miami nightclubs, recording along the way as well.

Hey wellhungone that's an awesome pic you posted there of Tania. As always you impress us with your keen eye. Cool cool stuff.

                  • Day 5 - The Baseballs

And so here we are, the final day of the music series. Hope someone out there liked it.

The Baseballs are a German rock & roll band that performs contemporary hits in a throwback style reminiscent of 1950s rock. Fashioned with pompadours and sideburns in accordance with its throwback style, the band is a trio of vocalists named simply Sam, Digger, and Basti who are backed up by Lars Vegas (guitar), Klaas Wendling (upright bass), Jan Miserre (piano), and Tomas Svensson (drums). Founded in 2007 in Berlin, Germany, the Baseballs made their debut in 2009 with the hit single "Umbrella," a rock & roll version of Rihanna's recent smash single.

I recently just discovered these guys through a friend of mine who by chance heard one of their tunes on some international tv talent show. They're fun and funny. Its just the type of stuff to help you put a livelier step in your day.

                    LOL

Sunday I will be announcing a Woman of the Week. Keep your eyes out for her.

                    Cheers.

                      "Click pic to enlarge"

The 5th T Woman of the Week!

Toronto's very own Miyoko. The portrait shot she has looks so serious and has that expression as if she knows a secret but thats what makes it so dynamite. It brings about a curiosity. The hair style here just accentuates the emotion that is being presented. It's not whispy or anything like that but rather it just casually flows partially over her face. The second photo is bold and beautiful I wouldn't categorize it as a pin up but rather of a "fine art". The photgrapher and Miyoko are purely expressing their own visions and feelings. Well, thats what i get out of it.

Miyoko and I have talked and let me tell you, she is one strong woman. Strong in the sense that she is not fearful to take a stand. In getting to know her she has had to bear down and say "this is me, this is who I am" and still continues to mature and grow in that aspect. Isn't that what we should all be doing? Not settling down and just accept things as they are but rather keep striving and keep moving forward to find out who we truly can be? She is friendly and is always willing to lend an ear for you and yes, can be a tease. Seems like a very winning personality hmmm?

As with the previous women of the week and month I've provided a photo manipulation of Miyoko.

                      "A piece of good news"

Allow Miyoko and I to share a little about what she likes to listen to and watch....

CD: Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauyrn Hill With the success of The Fugees riding with her Hill released one of the top selling albums of 1998 and that was due to her being able to switch from smooth to rough vocal singing in a heartbeat let alone her providing such moving statements in her songs. This album rocketed her to super stardom and provided a distinct moment in music history where rap finally broke out and appealed to all walks of life.

DVD : X Men Based on the famous comic book a group of mutants band together with their leader professor Xavier and are part of a school that teach others those such as themselves how to live amongst society with humans. Unfortunately the ideal is not shared by all mutants and so a battle begins between Xavier's team of X Men against his friend/rival Magneto and his followers. Humanity hangs in the balance as politicians, power struggles and personalities clash.

What a way to enjoy August.

I thought I was the only one who had ever heard of these guys on this side of the Atlantic. Well done. Just goes to show you can't judge a songbook by the cover.

Movie - Zombieland A cowardly shut-in named Columbus is forced to join up with a seasoned zombie slayer named Tallahassee in order to survive the zombie apocalypse. As Tallahassee sets out on a mission to find the last Twinkie on Earth, the duo meets up with Wichita and Little Rock two young girls who have resorted to some rather unorthodox methods to survive amidst the chaos. is there gore? yes. Is it violent? Yes. Is it down right funny? Yes and thats what makes the film. The chemistry between Harrelson and Eisenberg is so nonchalant you forget about the "horror" aspect. Donned a "sleeper" hit a sequel is already in the works. if you are a fan of "Shaun of the Dead" then you must see this.

CD - Electric Wire Hustle The story goes like this. The other day I was in HMV ( a music store for those who don't know ) and overheard this rather nice voice similar to that of Marvin Gaye. I kept listening and asked the clerk what was playing. He showed me the disc. I asked to hear more and was surprised. Although most of the songs seemed contrived and planned with the lyrics the whole cd seemed to have a nice tone with its use of sound of bass and finger snapping and this odd water sounding effect that would pop up occasionally. Though it is considered r and b I'd also classify it a abstract lounge. Worth a listen.

Ladies and gentlemen this post literally took me over 2 hours to do. I am not feeling well at all and haven't been for a few days. Hope to be back soon with some new posts/ ideas. Till then

                              Cheers.
