In the fall while visiting the beautiful Monterey California, we had the pleasure of dining at the Fish Hopper restaurant.
We arrived in Monterey a little later on a fall evening and found Monterey to be quite dead at that time of year. We were hungry and headed out hoping to find something open but many places were closed already.
We saw the Fish Hopper and they were still open, but barely.
Even though they were cleaning up they were more than happy to serve us.
We got a great seat overlooking the bay and even though it was dark we still go the ocean feel. This place and our table were very relaxing.
Both myself and my tgirl companion order the Surf and Turf.
This was a juicy bacon wrapped filet and and 8oz Lobster tail.
The filet was juicy and cooked to perfection and the Lobster tails were also perfect. We added a little red wine and it was an awesome meal.
It was one of those meals where we got talking and it just felt natural and comfortable. By the time we left the whole place was shut down except for the waiter standing by for us to finish. We talked and talked and the waiter never rushed us. Just a great dinner and staff.
After leaving the restaurant we strolled arm in arm back to our hotel.
As we passed by a bar we encounter two surly fishermen types outside for a smoke. They wasted no time in harassing and catcalling my tgirl friend and we walked down the street, it gave us quite a chuckle. Some real local character, which made us wonder if the guys were really plants for the tourists.
Not sure how busy this restaurant is in high season but it is highly recommended for relaxing atmosphere, great food and good conversation.
Definitely a night to remember.
