Tonia, often rings are used as a necessity, not just for fun, and are prescribed by Dr's for their patients use. The medical need is, exactly like you say, to trap the blood in the penis because of "leaky valves" (no kidding!) or in some cases just because of insufficient blood flow to pump Junior up to useable stiffness.

The use of rings is not a problem unless it is overdone, because getting an erection is really just about getting more blood flow into the penis and trapping there anyway. I dont think thats very healthy too, because it makes tight and block the blood,I used to work in hospital for 4 years ( part time ) as a medical report for the emergency police while I was in university , I remember there was some patients because of wrong toys
