All the advice is well-intended but I think you have to understand why you smoke and the nature of nicotine addiction before you have any hope of quitting.

There's a book/ebook called The Easy Guide to Stop Smoking by Allan Carr that's worked for millions of smokers, myself included. (Choose the short version of the book).

    http://www.amazon.com/Easy-Way-Stop-.../dp/1402718616

What's great is that the author encourages you to smoke as you read the book and as you read it, you learn about your addiction and how it is possible to liberate yourself from it.

I smoked over a pack a day for (gasp) over 30 years and thought I was a lifer. Now I'm more than 6 six years smoke-free and I never looked back.

Mind you, you have to be ready but this book may be the best damn thing you ever pick up...

It will give you every tool you need to quit and make it stick.

That's the book I was talking about. I read it after I quit but I think it's helped me continue.

there is a BIG difference between wishing you could quit and really
wanting to quit. Most times people know it's nasty and stinky and
horrible for you but they don't really want to quit and will come up
with excuse after excuse. I smoked from 15 years old untill 27 and
i smoked @ least a pack a day during this time but once a week is
gone bye you realize it's not as hard as it seems. You have to be a
trooper and hang in there also if you do things like remind yourself
how much you spend yearly (everyday) etc it helps.

When I quit heres what happened.

        1. I was an irrate asshole for @ least a month. a real fuckin prick.
        2. I gained like 12 pounds but lost it on the treadmill.
        3. I realized that my PTSD and anxiety started to rapidly decline
which is a great thing because most people don't realize smoking
is a stimulant and can feed or even lead to anxiety disorders like
mine,,,,when I quit I cut my ativan dosage in half.
        4. Once youve quit a while you realize how fucking utterly nasty it
is. Someone can walk past me 10 yards away and I can smell the
smoke and it honestly makes me damn near sick.
        5. My cardiovascular health has improved as well as my BP
        6. I train in brazilian jiu jitsu which is a very cardio driven art and
when i used to roll I would gas so quickly and now I find that
I can do 2 or 3 hours without a problem.

The benefits of quitting far outweigh the momentary pleasure IMO

Good luck tanya I hope you can do it.

apparently smoking reduces your chances of prostate cancer but it's only suggested one cigarette a day for men
          so smoking = healthy ass
          howeverrr
smoking = respiratory problems = death
