I always trip to take advantage of any bargains. I found one here with the Landmark in Bangkok. I booked through Expedia. I find that Expedia will have some deals that other internet sites might not. I prepaid, about two months before I left for my trip. I paid 65usd net per night. That is a deal for this hotel as the rack rate is 175.00usd. The best rate they were giving when I was staying there this trip was 135usd per night.
The rooms are somewhat dated but clean. Great king sized bed! The internet connection is slow and you have to pay unless you are staying on the Club floor. That adds 640 baht( $20.00) to your nightly charge. Free wireless in the lobby and bar.
The Landmark has a high level of security. If you are bringing a guest back to your room, you will be stopped by the elevators and they will ask to see your room key. They will also ask for and keep your Thai friends ID card. They can pick that up when they leave.
The main advantage of this hotel is the location. You are right on the BTS( sky train). Nana Plaza is just around the corner (Soi 4). Very easy to get around and find what you are looking for. If you are staying in this area, you can have your laundry done at Nana Laundry which is just past "Naughty Girls" bar. This is a huge savings from having your clothes done in ANY hotel in Bangkok. Looking for a local laundry is always one of the first things I look for when I arrive in a new area in Bangkok. I paid the first night 30.00cdn to have a bag of laundry done in the hotel. Two days later, same amount of clothes at Nana Laundry was around 8.00cdn.
I also scope out hotels on Tripadvisor. Here is the link to the reviews of the Landmark. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...ECK_RATES_CONT Check out Foodland across the street. You can have a great breakfast for 60baht ( $2.00) Best deal in Bangkok for good cheap food. There is a diner bar in Foodland called "Took Lae Dee" which means "Good and Cheap". That was explained to me by a Thai friend.
This is a great time to travel to Bangkok. Not many tourists and the Hotels on Suk, are almost giving their rooms away.
