Food for thought:
I hear the phrase "it is what it is" a lot these days. I like it. The words strike me as an attempt to express a minor idea. It is announcing in a casual way that we accurately perceive an unchangeable reality and have accepted it as such. There's no defeat implied, it's just an articulation of awareness doing its thing. To me, this represents the signification of Canada. An evolutionary step forward from "c'est la vie," which implied a weary, apathetic resignation. The Frenchification of Canada, if you will. Another phrase I've been hearing quite often is, "it's all good." This one really bothers me. A cursory look around would indicate that "it" is not even remotely "all good." This might represent the Americanization of Canada.

Spark: E Zine Miss August 2011 Memorial "Samara"
"Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong and carry on
Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven "

Miss August 2011 Memorial - Samara
Though I do not know much of Samara I still think it appropriate to say something about her as she meant much to so many
Let us take the time to celebrate Samara. Samara can be seen as a teacher, mentor and dear friend to many. From the writings seen here on this site she provided counsel and wisdom, shared a joyous smile and a cute laugh and often shared a zest for life and the passion for all those things that were important to her. Samara, we take great comfort in knowing that you are now soaring with the eagles and those of us here will hear your cheers from above. We will think of your brightness. Thank you Samara, your spirit will continue to live on in all of us.

This brought tears to my eyes. Beautifully done, and amazing that someone who claims to know so little about Samara, has touched people deeply with this post.

Ice Breakers!
The 2nd edition of Ice breakers. Uh oh. No matches this time. If you recall from the premiere Ice Breakers post maddplotter matched with maldita on one movie and got one boob squeeze......lol. Sadly there won't be any of that here.....lmao. It is quite interesting though the varying tastes both have. Could strike up quite the conversation I'm sure.
If any gents or ladies want in on this just send me a private message and I'll provide the instructions. Hopefully we can get more "secret" pairings and see what transpires.Last edited by Rantsalot; 09-01-2011, 10:48 PM.

Song of the week: Leila K - Got to Get Late dance tune of 1989 from a massive star in Europe that made no impression here in North America. Shame. She was quite good. Somewhere along the early 90's there were many artists from Europe that were making millions in the pop/ euro pop / dance genre but very few made it really big worldwide. No matter. They influenced many of the artists of later years. Leila K was a big influence on Lady Gaga. Yes...that Lady Gaga. I'm not saying I like Lady Gaga as I truly do not but its interesting how someone such as her would find some inspiration to something like Leila K. This song is and was nothing more but a dance anthem. It served its time on the scene way back when and only the die hard fans still keep her songs in rotation in their private music collection or on the flip side the budding disc jockeys keep her stuff around as a throwback.
Movie: Dirty Dancing Saw this years ago. Don't remember much about it. Saw it with my girlfriend at the time. Its a romantic movie with dancing. Posting it cus it seems many girls here seem to favor romantic movies more than anything....lol. Yes, well, lets see. Jennifer Grey went on to having a non existent career and Patrick Swayze became a super star and a heart throb to millions of women. I guess if there is one thing I could say I do like about the film is that it caused a lot of overdue interest in some great old songs and has a soundtrack that just won't die....lol..seriously, there are many....The 10th anniversary soundtrack...The 20th anniversary soundtrack...The Legacy Edition Soundtrack...The Girls Night Out Edition Soundtrack...The Remastered Soundtrack....LMAO

Food for thought:
In public bathrooms I will sometimes use the "children's urinal" in order to feel like a giant.
I've never understood why anyone would bother making a porn movie that lasts longer than ten minutes.
I often pretend that the person standing next to me in an elevator is an unwitting carrier of a deadly airborne disease unleashed by terrorists who hate our freedom. This, of course, forces me to hold my breath until the doors open.
Sometimes sex just seems like a lot of work.
Even when asked, I have never been able to "talk dirty" to a woman without feeling like a complete idiot.
I tried landscaping once. It ended in bloodshed
In philosophy class I spurted "What if dog actually spelled cat?" I was then deemed a genius.
I've never picked my nose. I wouldn't let a friend pick their nose either unless they trusted their plastic surgeon.
If you want to live a long life ignore advice, including this.
Join the army. Visit exotic locales, see strange people......then kill 'em.
A quick way to tell when a moth farted is when it flies in a straight line.
For once I would like to see some serious spy film use a secret password or code of " jalapeno ' to open a secret door
