I think it would give the right to MTF Transgenders to use the womens washroom.
What is stopping sexual predators from dressing up as women and using the ladies room now?
Transgenders use the ladies room now as it is, mostly, because it would be weird if they didn't.

Plus ladies rooms all have separate stalls, so no one can really observe anything. A sexual predator would still be better off at other locations, so why would this cause them to do this?

Not sure that bill needs to. "Sexual predators" would be covered under the Criminal Code if anything were to take place.

As great as this bill sounds, I would be concerned about what will happen if this bill has to be approved by the Senate, which is now dominated by Conservative senators. They are much more likely to decide that it should not be approved because of the wacky beliefs that most of the old reformers tend to subscribe to!

I do not trust the Conservatives with matters like this!!

yes it just goes to show you most of these poloticians dont have a clue,here in ontario transgenders cannot be refused the womans washroom ,were protected by the ontario human rights code.

As great as this bill sounds, I would be concerned about what will happen if this bill has to be approved by the Senate, which is now dominated by Conservative senators. Speaking of clueless..

All provinces have a human rights code to protect people when dealing with provincial matters and prevent discrimination when dealing with matters that the constitution deems to be provincial in scope. Federal law is written to deal with federal matters for the same reasons.

Well, it remains to be seen. The bill had support from 5 out of 143 Tories, not exactly a sign of support that the party is behind it. I just worry that Harper only allowed those 5 to vote in favor of it, because they knew that they would take flak in their riding for going against it. With Tory control of the Senate, they can let it pass in the House to make sure everyone looks good for their ridings and then kill it before it has a chance to become law, with all the blame falling to the unelected senate instead of the elected House, so there's less of an electoral impact.

I mean, I'm really hopeful that it will pass, but I don't feel it's possible with our current government.

I suppose the Crossdressing General didn't help anything, however a fetish crossdresser and a transgender are not the same thing.

Well I always use the single private HANDICAP bathroom whenever i'm out in public, cause i don't feel comfortable going to the guys bathroom and im not comfortable going to the girls bathroom either,, but if there's no handicap bathroom, then i got 2 options,, i either pee outside somewhere discrete like a dirty dog standing up, or i go inside the ladys bathroom and then im forced to sit my ass down in a dirty toilet to pee,, cause i get paranoid if some girl accidentally watches me in the side peek view of the toilet stall that someone is standing up pissing. Then again, i don't give a fuck, i am what i am, and if u don't like me, then fuck off! lol
