Singapore Question

Hi Craig, I landed a decent job in Singapore and was wondering what the ladyboy/transgender community was like their? Its close to Thailand so I was hoping it would have some similarities. I have read about how it is up and comming and trendy spot in the glbtg community, but have not found many first hand accounts to back it up. Just wondering what you know about the area. I am still going to spend 7 weeks in Thailand first, maybe I will find a nice lady and bring her with me.lol fingers crossed, Thanks for the help as always, Johnny

It is certainly alot harder to find ladyboys in Singapore compared to Thailand. If you live there you may meet some non-working ones.
Unfortunately ladyboys are not really accepted by the GLBT in many of these asian countries and vice versa. Ladyboys don't identify with being gay over there so you could probably call it the GLB community.

Did find some Ladyboys there in the designated Red Light district.
This red light district is essentailly one large building full of bars.
It is called Orchard Towers and it is across from the Hilton Hotel.
Pretty much all the bar action is confined to this area.

The majority of the girls here are Thais who travel there to work.
Thais can generally travel to Singapore without a visa due to the AESEAN agreement between Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
Unfortunately Singpore is way more expensive than Thailand for most things and some stuff is even more expensive than North America.

There was two tgirl bars in the complex so we went and checked them out. Some very beautiful ladyboys in these bars. I didn't get any pictures inside them but here is a couple from outside.

The other odd thing about Singapore is that chewing gum is illegal.
They say there is no negative issue surrounding the ban of gum and that no black market for gum has emerged. Partly as a result of this, Singapore is the cleanest place you will ever see.

Thanks Craig, I really appreciate you taking the time to converse with me. Being an admirer I seldom if ever get a chance to discuss and relate to these sort of matters of heart. I really appreciate the form for providing an outlet and opportunity. If I am left unsatisfied and alone in Singapore I will make the move to Thailand the following year. Being close to Thailand will let me figure out where I would want to settle and have a better understanding of the contry. Seeings how I will be working there I am not any more concernd about money than I would be here. Housing there is rent controlled, so I should be ok, I think, I hope.

I know it is wrong to streotype and everyone is different, but from your experience would you say most kateoy are top, bottom, or versitile? Also, how do you and your partner feel about your long distant relationship, I know it is not the ideal situation but I might find myself in a similar one. Sorry if this question is too personal to post, I completely understand if you dont. Either way thanks again for being so helpfull, and you are credit to the community.

In Thailand for sure most ladyboys are bottoms. Some are natural tops but most only do it for the money. Kathoey don't consider themselves gay in any way usually, so topping is mostly thought of as a gay activity over there.

I have no partner or anything, so I guess long distance relationships don't work. If you can only see someone occasionally I just don't think any type of relationship like this would work our or be healthy.

Truthfully it is pretty hard to know if you can trust many Thai ladyboys when you are not there, a great majority of them work in bars or other adult related ventures. The money from tourists is just too hard to refuse when the opportunity arises.

Hey Craig, Thailand is what it is, pretty awsome. Any admirer owes it to themselves to visit here atleast once. The way things are here is the way you wished they were at home. Ladyboys everywhere, tv, stores, malls ect and nobody bats an eye, its just excepted, the way it should be. Obsessions was the best place at Nana, I found the other ones way to aggressive for my preference. I am low key and did not love the rock star treatment, some fellas might get off on it though, it was just more attention than I am used to. I am down in Patong Phuket, which I love. The Ladboys have all been very nice and a lot of fun. They are easy going and are always up for a good time. If you visit try Tootsies ladyboy massage parlore. Incredible. I have not been to Phuket but hear it is nice. Have been seeing the same thai lady for quite some time now so am not sampling the goods anymore. Still meet many ladyboys because it is thailand.

I have actually been more of the less adult establishments lately

Gotta experience the Ladyboy rockstar experience at least once, hard to get that first time back anyway. That first time, being able to party my ass off with as many hot ladyboys as I wanted, eat, drink, smoke and party all night and still not break $100. (Well before bedtime anyway)
