I have mine set to 150% and it works great.
I can only take your word that it does work great but you still have to scroll up or down do you not? The screen depth is still much smaller isn't it?

I suggest that if SWHD monitors work so great, that membership in TgirlForums should include, as a free gift to all, delivery of a superwide monitor upon registration.

Hmmm, I wonder how many Forum members actually use superwide monitors?

Hey Mr. Toban, To answer your question, I have been using a 32" Sony HD TV as my computer monitor for a couple of years now. I love it.

I am going to have to upgrade my system to keep up with you guys!

Well Admin I am going to have to change my ways I guess. I have neither a laptop nor a widescreen monitor.

I was one of the earliest to get an LED monitor and I ended up with a Samsung 19" which was pretty big for that time. The price was big too ($800 comes to mind). I thought I was really up to date then (of course neither HD nor widescreen were anywhere near market ready).

I've built myself a new desktop in which I put a lot of goodies including a v.good video card but kept my old 4x5 aspect Samsung LED which puts out an excellent picture, which is why I kept it.

So to keep up with you and Ray I have just ordered myself an HDMI / DVI cable to put a fairly new, but unused HiDef. TV into service as a monitor. It is not as large as you two are playing with but should be OK.

If I decide I prefer the wide viewing version, then maybe, just maybe, one of my great grand kids would like the old Samsung, I'm hoping.

        We'll see how it works.

I like the new look, it's a nice tweak to the former layout. My only complaint is that I'd prefer less white space around the sides of banner ads and when replying to threads, it's a little hard on my eyes.

thats one thing i hated about running bbs the upgrading i had some crazy mods and you have to redew every one and some do not want to work at all bla and then the complaints over the little changes what can you do its necessary to protect your board from hacks and attacks security was the only reason i keept upgrading but the kind of fourms i ran were a thret to be hacked all the time not sure what the risk level is with this forum.

The new look and features will take a little getting used to.....but then, we're all just creatures of habit so....BANZAI!!!

Is there any chance that a little colour can be tweaked into the Forum background?

While you are making adjustments to newest iteration of this forum have to ask Admin - Is there any chance that this problem some of us have could be looked at?

I find that the current bright white background tends to add considerably to the eyestrain when looking at it for any length of time. This difficulty has also been mentioned here by various other viewers besides myself, including Babe, wgcd2, and incommunicado.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page you'll see there are three boxes, [Similar Threads, Tags and Posting Permissions]. Note that they all have a light blue colour background, making them a very good example of how a tinted background can make viewing the page very much more pleasant! No more blinking, no more squinting, no more tearing!

Below is a copy of the screen from another vBulletin forum that illustrates how much easier it is to read when a light background colour is used.

Ever since the upgrade I find log in a hassle, Have to do it three or four times. I keep getting messages that I need to make an account or that I do not have permission to view the board.

This has sometimes been a problem if I Hav too many browser windows open.
Possibly you need to clear you temporary internet files and/or cookies.
You could have some confusion with older code in your cache conflicting with the new code.

                    Let me know.
I figured out the issue. The URL changed and that was the issue. Updated the bookmark and everything is working as it should.

                          Yes!

                          Good on ya Admin!

With each tweak it's looking better and better. Really looking forward to the promised shading in the thread background though.

                                Hooooo lleeeee

I have just finished setting up my HD TV as a monitor as was suggested to me by Admin, and Ray. I have to tell you that so far that it is working great!

The Forum looks a whole lot better too just as you said I would find it, in fact I can now even see some subtle shading on the pages that I could not detect before! I still have some tweeking of resolution etc. to do tho' to get everything right.

Total cost was $16.48 + HarperST

I priced DVI/HDMI cables locally and could only find a 6 ft. for over $100 bucks (must have had solid gold contacts). Went to my usual mail order supplier Newegg and got a 10 ft. @ $6.96 + postage delivered right to my door in a little over two days.

I just have to comment on the shipment of this cable purchase!
I can't believe that it worked so well.

                                - on truck to the Sault @ 10:51 PM on the 12th

                                - delivered to my door @ 1:32 PM. on the 13th

That is unbelieveable service! Got to admire Purolator!
