  • A story of gender change

Here is something that I believe may be of considerable interest to some members who are trying to understand the complicated issues that must be tackled by those tormented by the disharmony of their innermost feelings and their physical body.

This is a story of one person who decided in mid-life that he had to address the issue. He was brave enough to acknowledge and then to act upon his desires to change. To complicate the situation further he was married with children and an ordained minister of the Chuch, a posting still retained, even today.

The story was published today in the Toronto Star and this link will take you to the on-line version.

    Thanks for sharing that Toban.

Quite remarkable really, for a lot of reasons. The location being one.
But also I am a little amazed and surprised at the age she was when this came into her consciousness and how rapidly she moved to work on it.

Good thing she wasnt in another denom though. The United Church is pretty progressive. The fundies would have destroyed her.

I wonder if the congregation that felt alienated would have really reacted differently if she just came forward in church one day.
