This movie though popular with some audiences is getting harsh reviews from many critics mostly because its the same movie all over again.
North America is not like Asia when it comes to the acceptance of transgendered people and I doubt it ever will be.Sure, LA, New York, Miami, TO, MTL. Huge metropolitan cities have a large population of people that can ensure they can live among others well but go to like a place in Podunk, North Carolina or Chicoutimi Quebec....see how easy it would be to cope there.
Fellow co workers who saw the film in my city literally were disgusted at the strippers scene....sure they thought it was funny but the comments there after were NOT friendly at all.... "If that were me I'd have.... insert negative bash." I've also spoken to friends and family throughout Canada and the US. Same kinda story. Audiences laughed but did not like seeing a transgendered on the screen in that particular fashion.
Yasmin Lee I'm sure may be thinking that this is a good step forward for the transgendered folks but I think its a step back. Instead of representing herself as like maybe an athlete or politician or what not shes exhibiting herself as someone selling herself so to speak. Is that a message thats positive for transgenders?? People out there are receptive to things so you tell me.
