I have often heard stories about how someone was left for dead on a sidewalk without anyone stopping for help. I saw this a while back and wondered, "What is wrong with us as a species."

If humans could only learn from animals we would live in a better place.

Too much greed in this world, it's terrible...

It's strange, because we are the only species on this planet that kills our own kind...needlessly.

For every dog saving a dog video there's hundreds of humans saving humans videos. I'm sure animals, if capable of such complex thought, would love to learn from humans. No more sleepping outside in the cold, scrounging for food, worrying about predators. Animals war with each other over territory and resources as much as we do, they just haven't developped advanced weaponry to do it on large scale. My point is we are all animals, many of us are good, some of us are bad, we all die and go back to the earth.

Now enough philosophy, who likes sucking dick!!?!

Objectively it seems needless but for the person doing the killing they do see it as fulfilling a need. Whether it be war between countries, serial killers, drug cartels, they all do it because they feel they need to, of course I'm not saying it's right or justified, but it's what that particular creature deems necessary for his survival. Just as a new king lion will "needlessly" kill the cubs of the previous dominant male in order to establish his own genetic line.

              Context for the lion video:

"Infanticide is a common practice in most mammals. Male lions use infanticide to get rid of offspring in a newly acquired pride that are not genetically related to the male coalition. Solitary males are also capable of killing the offspring of an encountered pride. Female lions have also been observed to kill cubs from a rival pride, but they would never kill cubs from their own pride. The dead offspring are sometimes consumed as an energy source and other times they are simply just eradicated for the sake of it. Older cubs and sub-adults have a better chance of being able to escape incoming infanticidal males than younger cubs."

I agree with you, and am aware of the Lions. But isn't this instinct? Another example: a praying mantis female kills her mate after sex. I look at these examples and see natures work. I worded myself wrong. It's more the mass killing we do, drive by shootings, war; these types of things.

But that's just instinct too, I want what you have so I'm going to take it, I feel threatened so I'm going to shoot you before you get a chance to shoot me. The only difference between us and the animals is we've developped the capacity to recognize that it's wrong, and for many of us that's enough to keep us acting civilized, but it doesn't change our core instincts, and unfortunately some of us act on those instincts.
