WHARTON, Texas (AP) - The transgender widow of a Texas firefighter will likely learn next week whether his family's request to nullify their marriage and strip her of any death benefits will be granted, a judge said Friday.



State District Judge Randy Clapp made the announcement after hearing arguments in a lawsuit filed by the family of firefighter Thomas Araguz III, who was killed while battling a blaze last year. The suit argues that his widow shouldn't get any benefits because she was born a man and Texas doesn't recognize same-sex marriage.

This is how they honor the dead. At first I was very upset. But stepping back this has everything to do with money. The Mother and the Ex-Wife don't want her to get the money. They found the reason they needed and a loop-hole. The thing is, the lawyer representing the mother and the ex-wife used to be Nikki Araguz's Lawyer in previous matters. The lawyer previously had disclosed documents on her when she ran for office in Texas.

And the kicker is that the attorney who is now representing the transphobic family of the fire fighter was formally Nikki’s attorney in other matters in the past.
That’s how he got a hold of her documents from the past in these depositions. When Nikki ran for the Mayor of Wharton, he also sent out mass emails to city business leaders outing her.

I am not sure but if this is the case, does she not have grounds for an appeal based on conflict of interest?

Though, if ever she wins her appeal, she should voluntarily and in good spirit give her demise husband's children a share, which will only prove that we are a lot better than them.
