Almost no one in the USA would pay that much for a Gretzky jersey unless they are a serious collector.

Now I know as everyone else knows that the WWE has a roster of people that go out and perform matches which are scripted and have pre determined winners however some of the performers involved have had careers in the past involved in other legitimate sports i.e. football , baseball, the UFC and even the "tradional" wrestling so to speak i.e. greco roman and such. To go out on a nightly basis and do whats asked regarding high flying antics and the running takes a great deal of stamina and cardio and such, more specifically be very athletic.

We could argue back an forth about the legitimacy of the WWE in comparison to real sports but given what these guys do I would say they are a different calibre of athlete. Actors you may say that have to do many physical feats. Anyways, the person in this video in undeniably the biggest name in the business and is known everywhere. The Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia and even in the Middle East. Compare that to a Gretzky or Jordan and the guy still outshines them all.

You could put Gretzky, and Moon in full uniform; put them out on the street in some countries and no one will know who they are. Hulk he could be in the same place wearing street clothes and he will get mobbed by fans.

Tiger hits a hole in one, a bunch of people clap. Hulk would put his hand to his ear and 100,000 people would erupt. I feel sorry for the guy there is no place he can hide and have a normal life without being recognized.

I am not saying Moon is the best football player ever.
However he is easily one of the best of all time, maybe not in the top 10, but very good.

I am just saying that Warren Moon is more widely known around the world than is Gretzky.
Moon may not be in the top 10 in some lists but he is extremely notable and held almost all the passing records at one time.
He was a starting quarterback in the NFL for a dozen years and in the CFL for 6-8 more.

The fact is almost as many people in Canada have heard of Moon as have heard of Gretzky.
So Gretzky may be more popular in Canada but not much more heard of.
However the fact that the NFL is easily 10+ times more popular than the NHL around the world is my main reasoning.

I have been to dozens of sporting good stores in Asia and not one has a hockey jersey.
They all have football jerseys from all 28 teams.

People in Canada are brainwashed by hockey and don't realize how small it is around the world.
As such Gretzky is not the massive figure anywhere but Canada.

I would like this evidence removed because the thread is about Moon vs Gretzky. Both players were retired at the time of these stats. Gretzky vs Moon not NHL vs NFL.

I understand what you are saying, and maybe during their playing days this would be a fair fight. But Gretzky dominanted a sport to a level that was never seen. Not football or basketball has seen such a person. Babe Ruth was that man for baseball. This gives Gretzky a lot of staying power. Most if not all Moon's records have been broken. Gretzky has records that some consider unbreakable. Even if we know this is most likely not true, it will take a long time for some of his records to be broken. Gretzky is an important ambassador for hockey and often is still very active for international hockey.

I would put Warren Moon lower then Jeff Gordon. Gordon is no where near Gretzky.
