Well girls, boys and others the NHL season is upon us and it's Time for our Hockey Pool. Or my pool.....whatever. Anyways, rules are not simple.
Here we go. 11 Players. 2 of EACH forward position. If you have 4 centers this can be a problem. So 2 LW's, 2 RW's and 2 Centers. 4 Defensemen and a Goalie.
Scoring:
1 Goal = 3 Points
1 Assist = 3 Points
1 Shot = 1 Point
1 PIM = 1 Point
1 PPP = 1 Point
1 SHG = 1 Point
Hattrick = 5 Points
-/+ = -/+ Exact Point Value
Goaltending
Win = 3 Points
Game Started = 1 Point
Shutout = 5 Points
10 Saves = 1 Point
The Draft and Player Movement.
The Pool will be limited to a Max of 12 teams. Draft Order will be random, and the draft will be a snake draft. This means the order switches each round. Last pick first and first picks last.
Drafting players does not limit positions. This means you can draft the best player available if you chose. But remember that you must ice a full team. If the player is not listed on NHL.com at a certain position, you can not play him there. Therefore drafting 2 goalies may force you into a trade.
Any player not drafted is considered a free agent. You can openly release and sign players at will. Please note... You can only have a max of 81 games at any 1 position. Once that spot has 81 games...no more points.
All signings must be done openly on a board. First to post, first to sign. Players must be released before a player can be signed. This can be done in the same post.
You cannot sign a player that is presently playing a match.
Any player pickup via trade or signing, the GM gets the points for the time the player is on the team. Therefore, if Joe Blow scores 5 goals in the opener and someone signs him afterwards, the GM would get his points from that point on. Not the 5 goals. Samething for a trade.
Final things I will mention.
1- If a player gets injured you can have ONE player on IR. NOTE: The player must be injured to place on reserve. Once that player is cleared to play you must removed him from the IR
2- You cannot resign a player you previously released. You can however resign a player you traded and someone else released. This is to prevent endless release and signings.
Just a heads up, but no one is too late to join. I will accept teams at any point. Even after the season starts. But like I said, you only get the points for the time a player is on the team. So if you join at the midway point; then expect to get points from that point on.
Earlier is always better, as you will have not only have more points, but you should have a generally a better group of players to chose from.
