They say though, that he was actually mortally wounded by a NATO air strike.
He was just found there as he was dying.
The rebels of course would rather have presented him alive for trial.
But because he is dead, the rebels don't look much better than his regime, unfortunately.

I still don't see why NATO must interfere here.
I don't see how bombing the hell out of people is any better human rights than some of the stuff already going on.
Those people may have been supporters of the regime, but they were also libyan citizens and dont' deserve to be killed by us.
We are fooling ourselves.
At best the CIA should have just taken him out a long time ago to save thousands of lives.

The new regime is likely to be much better and there will probably be more civil wars into the future.
Now that their enemy is dead, they will start taking sides against each other.
That is how they live over there, by the gun and the sword.

Why do my tax dollars have to pay to attack and then rebuild these countries.

In 1986, a club in Germany known to be frequented by US soldiers was bombed by Gaddafi injuring 230, killing 3. 79 servicemen were injured in the attack. In response, Reagan ordered "Operation El Dorado Canyon" and bombed Libya in an attempt to kill Gaddafi. They failed. There were reports that the attacks killed Gaddafi's adopted daughter.

In response:

Gaddafi fired 2 Scud Missles at a US Coast Guard Station and missed.

Hijacked Pan Am flight 73.

Hijacked Pan Am flight 103.

This conflict ended 25 years later with the death of Gaddafi

It`s a similar story with Bin Laden. The US at one point attempted to remove him by firing 75 cruise missles at him....and missed. 3 years later he retaliated with the 911 attacks.

I agree that these men should have been remove quietly from power but do the job right. Because if you try to kill someone and fail, then expect them get pissed off and to retaliate.
