Giggle, it was only a joke besides we can check your shoe size to make sure there are no type-o's lmao Come on down
For those interested in the VIP, check the website for details
the website for everyone who still can't figure it out is http://www.goodhandys.com/index.php

If your interested in meeting girls that you have seen online or been chatting with then this is the place to meet them.
Rest assured the ladies live and in person have not been photoshop'd or airbrushed LMAO ( now that would be a neat trick )
So if you want to see if were live or memorex come see for yourself

Last Saturday was a blast. So you forum couch potatoes get off your tush's. This is a great bar.
This is not the "spa" or the "lounge" its really just a kewl night club with music, dancing like any other nightclub.
I think many of you forum lurkers are scared to come to the club. Honestly the place is a blast and very down to earth.

Its been a great month so a quick congrats to Amanda & Todd and all the staff who have made and put so much work into this great club.
Words gotten around and each week the club gets better.
      Cheers everyone

If any photographers can offer some assistance with camera settings please prvt me. I am using a Canon RebelXT with a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L and the Canon 580ex bootflash. I think I know were to set it now ie: f2.8 - ISO 800-1600 - shutter speed of 200 - direct full on flash ?.
I would love to hear your feedback.
That lens is weak in low light because of the high f-stop. I believe you're using the kit lens which, when zoomed in, allows less light in due to the higher aperture number it uses. If you can invest in a 50mm Canon f1.8, it's a $100 lens. I've taken it to concerts with very low light and I've run it without flash at all and the shots have come out without any motion blur to speak of thanks to the fact that the camera was shooting at shutter speeds as high as 1/250 of a second. The problem with it is the fact that it's fixed at 50mm - you can't zoom in or out. It's a trade-off but the lens just works. If you zoom all the way out on yours, you'll get similar results since it'll run at f2.8 rather than something higher... but the view will be pulled pretty far back

I forgot to mention - you'll want to play with the color balance of the camera or simply take the photos as RAW images. This way you can fiddle around in photoshop to get the right color balance. Even without RAW, the color balance is pretty easy to fix up

        Have fun

          eville;

First off thank you for responding and offering some great feedback. 2 thumbs up
As far as my lens. I'm not using the "kit lens"
          What I have is a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L - http://www.the-digital-picture.com/R...ns-Review.aspx
which is one of the pro series lens and rates very highly. The damn thing cost me a pretty penny - $1,600.00 !
This lens will shoot at f2.8 through its entire range

I did have a peak at the Canon 50mm f1.8
          - http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/s...7&cat=2&page=1

but thought the Canon 50mm f1.4 was a far superior lens though 4x more expensive
          - http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/s...ort=7&thecat=2

then again for the amount that I would use a primary lens the 50mm f1.8 might be worth the $100 or so bucks it would cost and offer me some weight reduction. My rig right now weights a ton.

anothing thing Ive discussed with someone else is the UVfilter I have. I was sold a outdoor UVfilter at the time and this could be causing me all sorts of problems. Ill hunt down a ultra clear one or go without for the time being.

All in all I think it comes down to not having much experience other then the static portait shots Ive done in the past so tonight I am hoping to see some improvement by using better suited settings for the performance's

thanks again for your tips - eville - and if there are any other photo buffs out there with some tips keep them coming.

          S

***PS: GoodHandys photo policy is not to photoshop etc. any of the photo's taken. What you see is what you get.***

Now THERE's a tool I'd like to play with . Personally, I don't have a dslr yet - I just fiddle around with an old ELAN II I picked up off ebay and rent a rebel xt from vistek whenever I need digital.

As far as the shots at the club go, I'm impressed by the accurate color balance - I'm guessing it's because of the flash? How do shots taken without the flash turn out? You'll have to use ISO1600, spot metering, and point the center of the camera right at the subject's face when you pre-focus. That should get the right shutter speed and if the camera is set for auto mode, then it'll get the colors close to spot on as well

Hi there, just want to say I am back from a trip out to Ontario and other parts and was able to visit Goodhandy's on June 8 (a Thursday). Though it was very dead at the time I was there - about 1 a.m. or so - I liked the feel of it, the music was good, and there were a few nice looking ladies. Just wondering who the delicious girl was who was serving at the bar upstairs. Man, what an ass! Next time I swing through town I will check it out on a Saturday as it is clear this is the main event.

GoodHandys...interesting place...might have to pop in when I make a visit to Toronto...all that's missing is a Karaoke machine...most of the Japanese New-Half Clubs in Tokyo have them....How about a "She-Male Idol" contest?

Sorry to contradict, but we must keep the facts straight. The lady booked at the upstairs bar, that particular night was Joyce (Marishka).
