  • Question About Hotels/Recent Law

I've travelled from city to city for a good ammount of time now, and then I take a break and such but from me saying that we know as a generalized population of members / readers on the forum I have no problem getting a hotel depending on the situation if there is one.

Most of the time if I don't get accept it is one of the four that I think.
    1. Identification
    2. Credit Card
    3. Discrimination
    4. Booked Sold

But two hotels recently declined me one in Oshawa and one in Burlington. Two hotels i've stayed at quite sometime. When I went to the east coast of Canada I had no problem with hotels and before I went home for a visit I had no problems with the regular hotels I stayed at especially those two hotels.

I arrive at Oshawa last week and I was told that first of all the Comfort Inn was completely booked so she was apologiziing for that and also bitching at me telling me I need to learn the skill of prebooking. But then she told me that because I'm 19 they cannot accept me anymore because certain hotels around that area weren't accepting people under the age of 21 anymore.

I thought she was bullshitting me and that something happened (ex. moaning too loud, another provider calling and doing something, or just something) so I don't put up a fight since I never liked that lady before in the past so why would I have a problem and take a personal grudge from when she was just doing her job. Hence Durham men why I was stuck to go to the Motel 6 which I rotted in and wanted to cry when I walked in the door of the room. It brought back the bad old days from when I used to be not there in the head and lived at the Missisauga Gate Inn for aobut 2 months practically. Brought back those bad memories, but this time a hot boxed verison (the room was the size of a big walk in closet times two. Small as hell.

Then I went to Missisauga sayed at a hotel I had no problems getting a room and such. A couple days later I went to Burlington to go to the Best Western off Guelph Line I was too tired to take the go go green train (Go Train) or any other public transit so I cabbed it approx 80 dollars from Missisauga to Burlington passed out in the cab and woke up. I get to check in and reserved two nights and I was told that my age wasn't accepted when I have stayed there various other times previous but maybe because the lady didnt know me that was the problem. Regardless I have my Gold Elite Best Western card that i've racked up too many points on from other stays and they could have checked the account history. But when I suggested that or even higher deposit she told me that doesnt matter if I stayed there before that it was illegal for them to accept anyone under the age of 21.

After that bullshit I was angry even though I did leave out that she called a couple of hotels when I was sleep deprived and in utter distress and I got lucky with one. What was it.. another fucking Motel 6. Boy was I pleased, I get to that one and then I was declined because of my identication because everything was there but I didn't have a card or something stating my address of residence or that i was a legal citizen of Canada in their eyes so they couldn't accept me. So I got fed up spent another 80-100 dollars for nothing and then another 80-100 back to Missisauga praying to get back to the hotel I was at. On the way to Missisauga I remembered Oakville was between Missisauga and Burlington so I asked buddy if I could get part of my money back and id give him the half of the second 100 if he took me to my last idea of trying a hotel I stayed at previously.

He takes me I go inside she smiles at me remembers who I am gives me a hug, says she missed me ,said she is was glad my hair was just a phase and that it was growing and didn't want to say anything but deep inside she hated how I was using my hair before in the past when it was too short and needed extentions in her eyes because there wasn't enough length.

Regardless I got the room and I'm extending my stay one more day because of demand and I'm not ready to leave Oakville yet for that reason and one I cannot announce until the time is right and set in stone. Also I couldn't get a hold of the hotel I stay at in Kitchner on the phone early this morning and I want a nap since I had a rough sleep so I have given up on calling them this morning extended my stay one more night and hope that I don't have another identification issue or under age issue in Kitchner. It's annoying the hell out of me and I think rather stupid.

I can understand if the person never stayed at that hotel/location before and is underage but if I've stayed their number of times before and now I cannot be accept mysteriously with no other reason other then this it just is stupid, and pisses me off from the inconvience.

Is there more information that I don't understand about this law? Is there actually a law? Please let me know.
As of this point I am confused don't know if I'm getting lied to but in the end all I am doing is looking for answers and blaming Harper for everything.

I'm saving up for my place I can call home again like when I lived back in Ottawa a year ago in Toronto and I cannot save up for a place for myself if I don't have a place to work at and I am not able to travel across province(s) to cover my expenses. It's like setting me up to fail just because I am underage in their eyes. I was accepted at these hotels at a younger age and now that I'm the age that shouldn't be a problem I cant get a hotel. I can buy alchol, I can go get smokes, I can get into bars but I cannot rent a hotel room explain that one to me please I maybe stupid but I think this situation is stupider then I tend to act most days.

I wouldn't use the word discrimination since they are probably against hookers and not against tgirls.

Why don't you get your own place and stay in one location for once.
Staying in hotels all the time is a waste of money.
There is absolutely not reason you need to travel all over so much.
You are blowing money for no reason.

Most hotels now only allow customers that have major credit cards.
Some places you must be 21 to book hotels in your name.
Most places you must be 25 to rent a car now.

Soon you won't be able to give a cash deposit to stay in hotels, they just won't do it anymore.

Get yourself a credit card and start booking in advance and you should solve your problem.
There is lots of pre-paid credit cards out there that you can use.

HINT: if you pre-pay online for a room before you get there, they often don't look at you near as much.

Earn or purchase a Platinum membership at priorityclub.com, they give platinum members very good service and upgrades.
Staying at hotels on the cuff means you will pay more and get less benefits and upgrades, not to mention worse rooms.

I am a genius at staying at hotels.

You can't depend on the dsek clerk to do you any special favours!

Crag is right! Get a credit card and book your hotel in advance! That's most important!

You can't fault a hotel for being fully booked though. Recently I couldn't book a room at my very favourite Toronto hotel because they were booked solid - it sometimes depends whether something's happening in that city at the time you decide to book there e.g. during TIFF or Caribana it often means there are no good rooms anywhere in downtown Toronto.

Another tip. If you regularly stay with a particular hotel chain they have special rewards programs like Hilton Honors, Delta Priviledge, Holiday Inn Priority Club, Choice Priviledges etc, etc where they'll send you a special card with a number to use which identifies you as a good regular customer when you phone to reserve and then when you register you usually get some special benefits too, like free breakfast etc..

About 19 y.o. refusals - I imagine different hotel chains or operators may insitute their own regulations about this, depending on the local situations.

In some jurisdictions 21 or older is the law to rent rooms.
        Some hotels may have policy.

Often with a good credit card they don't care about anything else.
As long as they can pre-authorize you for lots of damages, they are happy.

With priorityclub.com I find they treat all members quite well, especially Platinum.
You can get Platinum by purchasing 50,000 points, which you can also use for rooms.

You may think that Holiday inns aren't that great and too expensive.
However most Holiday Inns and Holiday inn expresses have jacuzzi and honeymoon suites which barely get rented.
They often give these to their Platinum members as upgrades, especially in small towns.
Most have free breakfast, internet and other stuff.

Then I use my points to stay for free, I have had some pretty good free rooms all over at Intercontinental Hotels.

If you roll in with a pre-paid booking on your priorityclub account,
looking all mature with a credit card and matching bags etc.,
I doubt you will have any problems.

Basically don't act like a kid or a hooker on the lam and they won't treat you like one.

Thank-you again Crag. I just joined priorityclub.com and I purchased a Platinum membership. Currently waiting for my health card to be sent to me in the mail since in Prince Edward Island and I believe the rest of the maritimes (except Newfoundland) there is no photo on the medicial card, in Ontario and everywhere else in Canada there is a photo to identify. Also since I don`t drive and don`t have a passport I am waiting for the goverment ID that is being sent to me with my photo on it as well.

I`m sick of travelling it`s great since I have a widespread clientel and it`s great to see everyone so frequent but at the same time travelling is needless to say stressful and a bitch if you do it full time. I`ve had girls call me and say I want to travel and tour like you and such and I just say to them "Are you nuts? If I had the choice I wouldn't do such because it's stressful hecktic and drains the energy through you."

I'm currently saving for a location within the GTA area to be based out of. If that means I have a furnished location that I pay for or I have a hole in the ground that I build up from I don't care I just want a place that I can call home and never have to see a hotel again for a while. Well at least not see a hotel every morning.

Also i've realised that with travelling from city to city with location that is your home base you don't really keep much of your income that you made from each city since it's pretty much just spent on your day to day living since it's more of a travel day to day living then a regular living. First step my incall location, then finish my laser, get my injections around my smile to get rid of those two huge harsh lines and then I will be starting to actually work on what i've been wanting to do for such a long time.

Can't do it all in one day, but I just have to stop saying no and start saying I can do things because once I get no in my head I automatically fail.

I have been enjoying the benefits of priorityclub for years.
Some of the individual hotel locations suck from time to time but the overall program is the best.

You can get the best rates by booking advance on the priorityclub.com website.
If you book in advance you must pay in advance, however that is beneficial to avoid as many hassles as possible.

Basically to be anonymous as possible,
Book online and pre-pay as much as possible.
Look professional and as on business, laptop bag and matching airline luggage.
Always arrive after 6pm if possible. The hotel manager is usually gone home by then.
Usually it is only the day managers at hotels that really care.
Arrive late as a Platinum member with a pre-booked reservation looking like you mean business,
and you should not often have a problem.
