  • Food For Thoughts: The rights of transgenders and Gay in The Middle East

    http://www.foreignpolicy.com/article...rture?page=0,2

Mya is me, and I made up to 20K a day while I was there before getting arrested.
In 4.5 days (the caught me at 10 pm at night, I earned more than 60K Euro, which is equal to more than $80K)

I charged 3000 durham per client, which is almost $ 1K per client, and they came every 40 min.

The client ranging from a prince (yes a prince!) to a business man

At the beginning, it was almost like a dream came true, but it turned out to be a horror.

It's a lesson needs to be learned that money can't buy you everything

The best things in life cannot be bought for any price.

Money is also no help if you are not free to spend it.

Glad to see you got out with the most important thing, your life.

      1000% agree.
At the beginning, I was so angry because they took ALL my money and fought back so hard. But at the end, i gave up as long as they let me free...so i can continue my life.

Yes, being alive and free and healthy are the most precious gift

We take so many of our basic freedoms here in Canada for granted, and then you read something like this, happening to someone you know (peripherally as that may be) - disturbing and distressing, to say the least!

I'm glad you were able to get out of there, and thank you for sharing your story to protect others - that was incredibly courageous of you.
I'm not anti-semantic - words are some of my best friends!

Yes, we are pretty lucky here..but unfortunately not in every country.

As an escort, i want to raise the bar by showing to people that we are also human being that need to be respected, thus escorting should be seen as a profession, not criminality.

Besides, the clients are legal adults who just want to spice up their life...and nothing wrong with that.

I don't smoke, not into drugs, and lead my life as normal as other person, so why I was caught.
          I did not deserve this.

Anyway, i hope in few years...more and more people will have a better perception of escorting

          good night

          Tia

              sweet of you Candyland, thanks!

Yeah, i'm optimistic and just having this abundant energy to stay alive. this is probably my best asset.
I have (almost) forgotten this terrible horror and drama and forgiven those who were involved and moved forward since then.

I'm not going to let this drama ruin my future. On the contrary, i take it as a lesson to be more careful

              Let's rise and shine!

It's 9.35 am in Grand Rapids and i'm going to do my morning walk

I've spent some time working in the middle east and sadly I am not all that surprised to read a story like that. I'm sorry they treated you that way, but grateful that they stopped at just making you feel bad. Many gays, lesbians, and transgendered have been tortured and executed for simply existing. The same hypocrisy exists there that exists here with people like Ted Haggard. They'll do things behind closed doors and then completely different things in public. I remember hearing about a story of a young gay man, who was having an affair with one of the local political leaders. When this was found out the person he was having the affair with ordered him to be hanged as a sort of penance for the "crime". Kind of like how they'll execute the victim of a rape to restore "honor" to the family. It's screwed up, backwards, hypocritical, and a lot of other things.

Tia, I feel sorry for what you have endured. From what i have heard, you are a true GEM and don't deserve to be treated this way nor any other person.

My question though: Were you aware before you go to Dubai of their by-laws?

thanks for sharing your story with us Tommy!

there are things that definitely need to be improved in the middle east, especially the acceptance towards LGBT
So, hopefully by exposing my story in public, things is gonna be better in the future

                      thanks Jane.

Was I aware of the UAE law?

Yes, but i did not think that i would be the target.

There are hundreds or even thousands of escorts in Dubai, from those who work on the street to those who work from upscale apartment or hotel.

So, i did not think they would catch me.

                      O well...they did.

But, it's over now. I'm fine. It's a terrible memory, but i get over it.

It's a lesson that we all need to learn

                      cheers

Escorting should also be seen as one's choice. That government there pretty well violated your rights of freedom.

                          Agree.
As a matter of fact, there is no law with regards to escorting specifically over there. So, they just treat us they way they want.
If we behave well and they like and have a sympathy on us, they will release us very fast., or on the contrary...
