Electing a first openly gay Senator from Wisconsin and!...

Voted for Same sex marriage ( first time for a popular vote) in Maryland.
The tide has turned. Religious bigotry and homophobia is now being rejected on a massive scale in the USA and Europe.

Heck! they also voted to approved recreational marijuana use.

This world is changing...

And! a very popular American actor is wooing me to marry him.....
Naaaahhhh! just stretching too much here now....(just kidding!) LOL!

Yeah it's great to see a 2nd term for a president with a head on his shoulders after putting up with 8 years of the airhead president GW Bush! (so, the blue part of that map means water, right?)

One good thing about Bush's re-election in 2004 ... it finally got Americans off their asses to vote so that a disaster like Bush doesn't happen again!

The only bad thing I see about Obama's 2nd term ... Canada will lose tons of great doctors & nurses due to the demand south of the border once uninsured Americans start enjoying the same free health care we've had for so many years...

Obama's second term win strikes a blow for intelligence, humanity and just plain common sense for people everywhere!

A couple of quick notes to add:

Locomotion, I think you may be right about losing your doctors but I'm not sure your health care system is all that it's cracked up to be. This summer I was having dinner at a restaurant and overheard a man and a woman talking about having an operation here in Buffalo. Turns out the man was from TO and had to have an operation quickly or he might never walk again. Had to come to Buffalo to get the operation quickly. Ironically, the doctor who was doing the surgery came to the US from Canada.

Ray: Nothing run by the government is perfect. That's the downside of Canada's free health care ... there is a waiting list and not enough doctors and nurses to go around.

Everyone is entitled to it, so first come first served.

I'm sure Americans will also experience this once EVERYONE is entitled to health care, not just the "privately insured" (only a percentage of coverage, unless you get very sick then you're on your own) or the rich who can afford it.

This so called "system" Americans have now is just plain wrong. You shouldn't have to lose your house just because you got sick.

Free health care should be a right, not a privilege.

Obama is a moderate Republican circa 1992. I consider myself way to the left of Obama.
We don't have a political party that serve average Americans -- or the majority.
The so-called Republican Party (if they're even a political party anymore) simply serve the super-rich. And the Democrats are moving in that direction.
I mean, income inequality is getting worse.
This is NOT a personal attack on Obama. I'm sure he's a very nice man. Nice to his wife, friends and kids.
He is simply a part of the system, the overall structure. Whereby politicians have to be subservient to corporate power.
Fact is: we live in a corporate state.
Obama is, yes, a moderate. He is decent and moral.
But he has to contend with a business-run society. And America is a business-run society.
And, too, as Adam Smith said or wrote: Merchants and Manufacturers -- today: corporations -- are going to serve their own parochial interests regardless of the "grievous impact" on others.
So, it's a corporate-run society. And corporations will -- and have to -- serve their own narrow interests regardless of how much it harms people, the natural world etc., etc.
Very good news: An openly gay Senator, Tammy Baldwin, was elected. First time ever. Very positive!
