  • Transgender artist arrested for baring breasts on plane Nina Arsenault and Lexi Sanfino sa

Nina Arsenault and Lexi Sanfino wanted to shock a flight attendant when Sanfino performed an impromptu striptease on a WestJet flight to Edmonton Thursday night.

But the two prominent Toronto-based transgender artists said the performance was spoiled when they were arrested by Alberta RCMP officers, whom they allege deleted photos from their camera and threatened to throw them in jail with men.

Arsenault said the incident was provoked by questions from the flight attendant, which they deemed inappropriate.

?She came over and said, ?You guys have to teach us how to do our makeup,? ? said the 39-year-old performer. ?And then they were like, ?You know, because you used to be guys, right?? ?

In response, Sanfino decided to strut topless down the aisle.

?She walked down the aisle with quite a bit of grace and flamboyance and had her arms out,? said Arsenault. ?And then the flight attendants came and covered her up, saying ?Think about the children!? ?

Contacted via Facebook, Sanfino added: ?My actions spoke louder than words.?

WestJet spokeswoman Brie Ogle declined to comment on the incident as it was under investigation by police. She said she was unaware of Arsenault and Sanfino?s complaints.

?If our guests would like to contact us, we would be happy to work with them to address their concerns,? said Ogle. ?However, we have not had a complaint at this time.?

When the plane landed, RCMP officers were waiting to arrest Sanfino.

Arsenault said she filmed the arrest, which the officers objected to. When she refused to stop filming, she alleges they handcuffed her as well.

Arsenault was eventually released without charge, while Sanfino was charged with causing a disturbance.

Alberta RCMP Sgt. Jos?e Valiquette confirmed the arrest but would not comment on the allegations.

?We will not be able to speak to the details of the investigation as the matter will be before the courts,? she said. ?If these people feel they were not dealt with appropriately, they can make a complaint at the appropriate location.?

Arsenault and Sanfino said they were taken to an RCMP holding cell, where Arsenault claims an officer took her camera and deleted photos and a video of the arrest.

They claim the officers began referring to them as males after seeing their passports.

?They were addressing us by male pronouns,? said Arsenault. ?I was like, ?OK dude, I understand that legally it says ?M? on our passports, but we present as women. . . . Everyone knows I?ve had a lot of surgical procedures to feminize myself.?

?They said, ?Just so you know, we might have to put you two in the male prison.? ?

Regarding the alleged comment, Sanfino said, ?All I kept thinking is they are threatening me with one hell of a good time.?

Arsenault alleges an officer questioned her about her operations.

?He said, ?So have you had the final sex change surgery? Do you have the original parts down there? Did you get something new?? I said, ?I don?t think that has anything to do with my arrest.?

?Let?s face it: if you?re legally male, it?s not even illegal to remove your top,? said Arsenault. ?I think that was the politics she was exposing. If you?re going to treat me like a male, then I?ll put this in your face. Which begs the question: now am I??

Why does everyone always say think of the Children?
Breasts were made specifically for children.
    Young children see them daily.
So what is the big fucking deal with children?
They can suck on a tit but they can't see one?
    What would happen?
All the children would see the breasts, and start crying in hunger?

Actually in Montreal the issue was already settled as to whether TS are legally allowed to be topless.
A street walker was arrested and convicted for indecent exposure in Montreal for being bare breasted in public.
Even though the ID says male, the person was representing themselves as a female at the time, as such they are held to the restrictions put on women not to be topless in public.

The only people at fault here are the stewardesses for being insensitive.
However Lexi took the extreme route, as per usual

The police are just like customs when it comes to shemales.
I was held by Canadian customs once and they asked me if I was some kind of shemale.
I told him it was none of his business and not relevant to anything.

They have been both barred for life and blacklisted by not just Westjet but all commercial flights in Canada.

        Are you kidding me?

Shyla, are you sure about this?

If so I'd like to be the lawyer who takes up the cause. While Lexi's reaction may have been somewhat hotheaded (count to ten...OK...1,2,3 ...fuck it show them you tats...euphemism in case some innocent impressionable children who were bottle feed may be reading this post) as a fellow hothead I can understand and respect her reaction. And if you are correct the airlines' reaction to her reaction is even more over the top than Lexi taking off her top.

Originally I was going to take a more humorous approach when I sought out the thread that I knew would exist but sounds like from a practical perspective this may be more serious.

So Lexi/Nina best of luck. I hope the airlines regain their senses and if they don't I am willing to throw in some money for a good lawyer. Actually not sure how good they need to be.

          Surely that cannot be enforced

WOW, that punishment sure seems to be way out of line and actually an extreme form of censure.

While there may be some merit in the action taken re: Lexi's "walk down the aisle" but from what we have been told Nina's only transgression seems to have been filming and photographing some of the arrest. If it is as reported then I'd say Nina should lay charges against the RCMP for mishandling/cuffing her and for destruction of her personal property - her photos and movies!

BUT, there may be other information about the pair' actions on the flight that has yet to be disclosed. Keep an open mind.

With all the security to board a plane, you really think this can't be enforced? People have been banned off Via-Rail for less. The Nav Canada controls Civil Air Navigation Services.

As for a lawyer, they are going to need one. They are not being charged with indecent exposure. So the argument of the "man with shirt off=allowed" is not going to fly. The are being charged with causing a disturbance and with Laws and Security surrounding Air travel; this is really bad. This is the reason they have been banned off flights.

Even if the flight attentant did say what she said. The reaction is there. It happened and there was an entire flight to prove she took her top off.

She may be able to press charges under Bill 33 in Ontario against the attentant and Westjet, but that would be a separate case from this anyways.

Yes since you have to book flights with your name and back it up with ID several times, it will be pretty hard for them to fly.
It will have to be private charters now.

Pretty weak violation of any rights, just rudeness, unprofessionalism or stupid thinking by the flight attendant.
                  (Nothing new from flight attendants)
Plus they are both known flamboyant celebrities so people approaching them can be possible.
Lexi's reaction did not fit the digression, and a complaint to the airline would have probably got her a free flight.

Lexi's reaction might have been over the top, but at the same time it would give a strong message to all airlines to educate their employees how to deal with ts with sensitivity. So this might be a bright side of Lexi's controversial action.

While the initial comment might have been within norms as gg do at times call each other as "guys", the following comment of the flight attendant was totally inappropriate. Was it made in good or bad faith is difficult to know for those who never witnessed the incident.

Generally speaking, gg tend to be cool with ts, but I have seen in rare occasions that they could be purposefully mean, and at those times mostly out of jealousy!

Nothing here warranted the response that was given by Lexi.

Girls ask each other about makeup all the time, this incident was just a misunderstanding.

The fact is, they both used to be men.
If you are insulted by your own past, then the problem is yours.
The fact is that both of them have been "in your face" about being transsexuals.
They have both been on highly watched television series and were recognized, as such.
Celebrities getting approached and having stupid things happen to them is a fact of life.
How they deal with it goes to their character.

The fact is, Transsexuals are very unknown to most Canadians, especially in Western Canada.
Most people don't know a TS and most people are nervous and apprehensive around them.
This is just human nature to be wary of that you don't understand.
Because of this people may act weird or say the wrong thing.

I think many TS are far far to quick to react that they are offended over every little stupid situation.
The reaction here was retarded and unwarranted completely.
A reasonable person would just complain to the airline, if that.

There was no intention of hate or hurt here.
The is no human rights violation and no one was refused service due to their gender status.
To be offended by people that don't understand you is even more rude that the original incident.
Why not use it as an opportunity to educate instead of shock?

Because Lexi is a shock jock basically.

If you don't want to stand out as a Transsexual, don't go on Televisions and promote yourself.
Don't advertise and promote your escort and entertainment services,
and don't make a scene over every stupid thing.

I think transgenders have a duty to try and fit in to society some.
They are not a majority and should at least consider what other peoples feelings are.
To scream human rights over ridiculous things is just a mark against transgender rights moving forward.

Fight the real issues and put the bullshit aside.
It does not look good on anyone.

If you want to live where people don't care if you are ladyboy or not, move to Thailand.
Otherwise, in Canada you are a novelty as a transgender.

I don't think that the idea of my post was to promote Lexi's actions but rather to state the fact that for everything that we might view as unreasonable, there is an advantage! Now don't get me wrong, whether the advantages/disadvantages ratio is more or less in this case is something wholly different.

As for the flight attendants, how could you be sure that there was not harm intended?! None of us were there. It could turn out as you said and it could turn out totally different. Your whole conception/misconception is based solely in your prior knowledge of Lexi! While I totally respect that, I can't find it enough of a reason to be certain.

Additionally, what is the business of this flight attendant to go to a passenger and ask her about her make-up. Is that part of her job manual? In fact this is enough reason for the airline company to discipline her! She even go further to remind Lexi of her original gender? How in the hell is this relevant to her question?

That was the extent of my comment (i.e the flight attendant was inappropriate)! I am quiet confident if Lexi laid a complaint without resorting to what she did, she would have gained a personal benefit (i.e free ticket etc), but it could be that she wanted to deliver a message on behalf of all t-girls.

Last, as for you comments about Canadians not aware of TS! Well, on the assumption that your conception is applicable to the average Canadians from the west. I don't see this argument flying regarding a flight attendant that is supposed to be dealing with people from all sorts of life paths. I think that regardless of the actions taken against the t-girls in questions, this should ring a bell to the airline in question regarding educating their staff about such a minority as you said.

Just above the knee and lots of cleavage..

I'm good at pulling off stunningly sexy & classy without under dressing...

The long bleach blonde hair seems to turn a lot of heads..

That and I'm sure there's a westjet memo out by now not to say shit to trannies..
