Beware of HIV bugchasers/giftgivers

Hi all,

I stumbled upon a very interesting but, yet, disturbing documentary in youtube yesterday about the gay community and HIV and AIDS.
It's all about bugchasers and giftgivers in the gay community. It was produced in the year 2002, so it's not new news.
Well, it was definitely BIG news to me, and i am sure it will be BIG news for others, as well.

What is a bug chaser?...well, it's got nothing to do with bed bugs, that's for sure.
What is a gift giver? Well, sadly it's got nothing to do with giving gifts in the healthy way we think of giving gifts.

If you see anyone one with a tattoo in the form of a negative sign, like this ( - ), that is a sign that the person wearing it is a bugchaser.
If someone wears or promotes a "bio hazard" symbol, also called a "weapon of mass destruction" symbol, please, think twice as that person is either a very uninformed person or is a definite giftgiver.

I watch closely, now, for such tattoos on visitors bodies once they are undressed. I even watch the kind of things people post on the internet such as in avatars, websites or whatever. so i know who to either 1. refuse meeting and/or 2. ask that person to get dressed and leave,

I know it's a gay thing, but transsexuals are STILL considered a part the LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transsexual) community.

Hi all,

Although bug chasing and gift giving is more of a "gay community" thing amongst GAY men, we girls should still be aware of them by means of carefully checking peoples' tattoos as shown in the previous post. It is just a little precaution, as little as it is.

Having a nice conversation about their sexual habits is a good idea, too, because maybe some bi guy went unknowingly with a gift giver and was infected with HIV and now he's asked you for a date. Eeek!!
Let's get the lines of communication going before someone becomes a victim. Ask lots of strategical trick questions when talking with potential clients to find out what they've been up to.

A bug chaser's tattoo or symbol is a simple minus sign ( - ) on the body some where. When they become infected, they get a tattoo going through the minus sign to create a plus sign ( + ), meaning, "infected" or HIV positive.

Bio-Hazard Symbol

I seen it twice, first time in Dominican Republic, second time in Cuba, both while vacationing. The man in Dominican was from Spain, how do I know that?...I had a few drinks with his beautiful mother.

The tattoo was on his back, up by the shoulder blades and covered approximately an 8" circle. I had seen the documentary prior to this so it was kinda interesting and revolting at the same time. It was also sad because he was a good looking young man who you would think had a great life ahead of him.

You kinda hope it was only a tattoo, not the representative from the documentary. But, who would risk it!!
