Is it good or bad..
Well..
Prostitution was never illegal..
Only some of the things associated with it are criminal offences..
This could well be the new road to regulation, taxation and the government being the official Pimps..
It could be good and it could be bad..
It could lead to a lot of these massage parlors getting shut down or requirements for special licensing, accountability among workers and such which will drive many workers further underground..
There are a great number of sex workers in the country that are not Canadian citizens.. Lots of these massage parlors are in Vancouver and populated by Asian workers that are never regulated.. These establishments compete with each other fiercely and have driven prices as low as $50 for a rub and tug.. Similar issues exist in Montreal..
Without laws in place the industry could become even more saturated with workers both foreign and domestic which could lead to a fall in pricing. This was the case in Amsterdam but select workers decided they would keep prices up, regardless of what the others were doing. Workers insisted on regulation to prevent foreigners from working in Holland.
Here in Vancouver many of the GG SP's I know are complaining about low prices and too many $100 foreign workers, as am I. The girls I know are keeping their prices high as there are no other comparable services available and high end white girls are in demand..
I hope the new laws help protect domestic workers and prevent people from other countries from saturating the market with girls that are here on a tourist visa. These girls are often victims of human trafficking rings run by pimps from overseas.. If you look at the ads you can clearly see there is a dominant presence of particular racial groups in this business. Canadian born Caucasian people are a minority in the Canadian sex trade industry..
In the future I see regulations, taxes and licensing.. I also see parts of the industry going further underground and finding ways to circumvent or usurp the new laws so as to maintain the flow of cash to the pimps/gangs involved in human trafficking..
None of the remarks above should be taken as racist. They are observations of years in this industry..
I am however one of those people that thinks we need to stop immigration and keep our jobs in every industry for Canadians..

I'm sure they will draft new laws to at least address the street workers to keep them and "circling" Johns from becoming a nuisance and safety hazard in neighbourhoods. May just be a revamping of public nuisance, indecency and loitering laws/bylaws. Municipalities may increase their escort license bylaw enforcement of individuals, agencies, and parlours to help control illegal workers (under-aged or foreign) and to deal with organized crime and sex slavery.*F*A*N*T*A*SA*

It has always been taxable. Not sure why you think it is not taxable.
Possibly they will just enforce with prosti's more now.

This has not changed. You just cannot get busted for talking to a customer in public.
This does not mean you can ply your trade anywhere.
if you are on the street and they don't like it, they will ask you for your business license.
Then give you a $3000 fine, if you don't have one.
Areas can also be zoned for certain activities so they would zone this to a certain area, so you couldn't just do it anywhere.
You cannot work legally ever on a street in a residential zoned area.
Why anyone would want to work the street in this day and age, makes you wonder.
Picking up girls off the street is risky these days, because there is a reason they are out there on the street.

I meant that they could use this as a way to enforce and or increase their tax revenue from escorts.. It's a multi billion dollar industry and hardly any girls pay taxes..
The government will probably just make a mess of it..

It is true that foreigners probably would never get audited but they could easily be deported, and could not get licensed as you said.
Then when the person is deported they would probably confiscate any funds earned in Canada or if not possible report them to the tax agency in their home country.
With cash it is harder to track but when i got audited they were searching for anything that possibly owned or had hidden away.
I don't think the government will make any more mess of it than for other citizens.
Tax rules are basically the same for everyone, so there is no trick to taxing escorts.
All the rules are in place today.
The main rule is that if you make money you have to pay tax,
escorts can deduct all the exact same sorts of things that any other business can.
If you use a portion of your home, you can deduct that etc.
Escorts have to fill out the exact same forms, there is nothing to add to tax laws to accomodate escorts.
Low end workers may not meet the minimum taxable income but many others will.
Today any escort taking credit cards and not at least paying tax on that income is setting themselves up for a tax fraud charge.
This is one method they like to use to get tax evaders is to track through their credit card revenues.
They did a blitz on restaurant workers one year and busted many that did not claim at least their credit card tips.

White Girls vs Asian Girls
Here in Vancouver many of the GG SP's I know are complaining about low prices and too many $100 foreign workers, as am I. The girls I know are keeping their prices high as there are no other comparable services available and high end white girls are in demand..
Alexis, there are tons of us white guys here in Vancouver who love the asian GG's. Yes the price is relatively low, but the asian GG's really know how to treat a guy in bed. On the other hand, many of us have had poor, indifferent service from your "high end white girls." I can only surmise that rich asian men are the ones paying the high prices for white girls for I know of few white guys paying for their lacklustre services.
As Holland (Amsterdam) is a member of the European Union, they have to accept any migrant from within the EU. That includes all those romanian and bulgarian prostitutes driving down the price of prostitution in Holland and the rest of Europe. Germany for example has over 500,000 prostitutes working in legal sex clubs, many of them from the above mentioned countries.
It's called supply and demand. The legalization of prostitution will inevitably drive prices downward as the barriers to entry come down. Fortunately for TS SP's their uniqueness and rarity will enable them to continue charging prices at the high end of the scale.
Merry Christmas

If the Canadian laws are modeled after the German ones I would be really happy with that.. In Germany prostitution has been legal for over 200 years and they police the system, make girls pay taxes, require health screening and a few other things..
I've contemplated going to Germany, Berlin in particular for a working Vacation to check it out..
On the low end of the scale services start at 50 Euros (hand job) and most hourly rates are 200+
Originally posted by TSFantasia View PostI agree with you Alexis. Supply and demand is one thing. Illegal foreigners flooding and killing the market is another. I say put the illegal Asian, "Brazilian", etc workers on the next bus or ship out of the country. Along with the rest of the illegal aliens taking away jobs and saturating the market in other areas as well. Legal immigration policies? Well that's a whole other debate!
Everything is relative I suppose and the markets do balance themselves out eventually..
I've contemplated Bangkok for a working vacation as well. The last time I was there with my GG partner we were offered large sums of $ when we went to Nana Plaza.. We were the only white girls there.. Huge demand and limited supply.. We both had our boobs done so we weren't working.. The offers were in excess of 10,000 Baht and kept going higher the more we said no..
It was also very evident that some of the local girls didn't like the amounts guys were offering us and how we got swarmed by soooo many men..
It seems no one likes foreign workers in their territory..

2nd Job Revenue Canada Auditor?

In a country where the average Canadian works for the Govt. 6-7 months of the year in wages lost to various forms of
taxation: Fed & Prov. Income Tax , City property taxes, GST & PST, and a variety of other hidden taxes. And where every year the
Auditor General finds "gross negligence & mismanagement of public funds" by politicians and public officials!
I'm all up for individuals and companies paying their fair share of taxes to support healthcare, education, social programs, etc.
However, I don't blame individuals and companies for carrying on some of their business as "cash under the table" transactions to keep
a few more dollars in their pocket. But then again I don't work for Revenue Canada either*F*A*N*T*A*SA*
