  • Healthy Body Cleansing

To cleanse or not to cleanse...that is the question!!

I'm pretty healthy overall. As we age it's in our own power to stay healthy. With age comes a slowing metabolism, creaky joints, muscle aches and pains. Decisions must be made to counter that and help sustain a healthy body and lifestyle without the use of meds or running back and forth to the doctor. Example, i have increased my consumption of metabolic increasing foods like cabbage, garlic, etc., but mostly greens.

I have never smoked in my life and my only experience with drugs is having experimented with pot as a youngster. In spite of all this I have inherited high blood pressure and cholesterol which is normally associated with an unhealthy lifestyle. My diet is mostly healthy with emphasis on "mostly." Without turning vegetarian or vegan, what to do? (I ask myself lol)

I eat very little packaged foods, foods from jars or cans and seldom eat in restaurants. This is about avoidance of salt, saturated fat, preservatives and chemicals that is added to processed and restaurant foods. Some examples of the foods I do enjoy from jars or cans are sardines (in water) tuna, salmon, sauerkraut and jams. Foods always fresh and abundant in my kitchen: various colour bell peppers, banana peppers, spinach, broccoli, tomatoes, Greek yogurt, cucumber, avocado, 100% whole grain oats, assorted nuts, honey, Canadian maple syrup, rice, rice beverage (milk substitute) sweet potato, bananas and apples. I make my own sauces from scratch. I eat red meat 3 or 4 times a week (lean or extra lean) and normal size servings...unless it's a big juicy prime rib! I will reduce my red meat consumption to 1 or twice weekly. I love chocolate, chips, chocolate chips, ice-cream, beer, spiced rum with ginger ale and wine lol! But it is "mostly" under control. Now you all know everything in my kitchen and my complete diet!!!

CLEANSING!! I want to evacuate toxins from my body... start fresh. So many cleanses, So confusing! The correct cleanse for me! Is cleansing even necessary?!

I picked one cleanse, 3 days of fresh liquid food. Juicing whole veggies, adding Greek yogurt or protein powder to ensure 40-60 grams of protein a day. Now to find a veggi based protein...Hummm...

Anybody with pointers, suggestions, etc on this subject? If you cleanse...how?

You should STOP THE RED MEAT. If it's protien you want, there are many other options.
If it's the Vitamin B12 you want, there are other options.
    - Proteins: quinoa, chia seeds, legumes.
    Veggies contain protein.

Your are better off drinking 100% whole milk and NEVER from the USA.

Do you eat margarine or demi-salted butter?

Your Greek yogurt is made by which company?

    Grade A or B maple syrup...or grade 1 or 2?

"Chocolate, chips, chocolate chips, ice-cream, beer, spiced rum with ginger ale."
ALL CRAP!! This is children's junkfood (minus the beer and rum). You are not a child. Eat like grown up.
    - Buy carob powder or carob chips instead of chocolate. But still eat a little dark chocolate.
    - You can make your own potato chips with REAL potaoes at home. Use sunflower seed oil to fry them in.
    - Go for dark chocholate instead of milk chocolate.
    - If you eat ice cream, make sure it's REAL ice cream, like H?agan Daz - but be careful of the bits and pieces they put in their ice creams.
Most ice cream containers call themselves,"frozen deserts" - that is NOT ice cream.

    - Do not do ANY hardcore juicing if you do not intend to do coffee enemas. You will get very sick.
    - Go vegan. It's tricky to say because there are many factors to being a healthy vegan.
And have a little red meat, once in a while but order some vitamin B12 online, tell me which one you decide to buy, first.
    - Buy some psyillium fiber and stay far away from flavored Metamucill.

    Babe,
    xoxo

      Bill's Food and Childish Habits

Thank You Babe...I really appreciate this. Your the best!

      In answer to your questions:

RICE: I do 50/50 mix of whole grain brown and basmati
JAM: no preservative Last Mountain blueberry and raspberry
      YOGOURT: Liberte' Greek plain
MAPLE SYRUP: 100% pure Canada No. 1 light
No margarine ever, yes to unsalted natural butter, but used sparingly

Ice cream, chips, chocolate, rum, beer are all occasional treats. I never have ice cream in the house or I would eat it till gone, I get out for 4-6 cones per year. Chips are restaurant style tortilla which I count and allow myself max 5 chips 4 times a week lol

Hard core juicing is not in the cards, only for 3 days for an initial cleanse. I will continue to juice but only 1veggi juice a day and will continue to eat mostly raw vegetables.

I will follow your advise on the other things ie: carub, make my own chips with potato or kale.

      BABE...YER DA BOMB!!!
      Thank you

        Internal parasite cleanse

I tried to post this last night but the forum was sooooo slowwwwwwww to load and change pages, i said screw it, i'll do it tomorrow.

        Now, is "tomorrow".

Go for grade B or grade 2 maple syrup, instead of A or 1.

I never said to deep fry kale.
You would deep fry kale? Why? Kale is a leafy veggy. You deep fry that and you'll kill all the goodness in it. You should lightly steam it - only lightly!

To make homemade potato chips, you need to slice your potatoes paper thin. You can use a mandoline for that - i use a knife.
Heat up your pot of HEALTHY oil and drop the potatoes into the oil. Stir them around and don't fry them too long or else they will burn. Use a wire strainer to put them into and put that into a bowl so the oil goes into the bowl so you can re-use the oil.

Do you cook with extra virgin olive oil?
What kind of oils do you use in your kitchen?

Incorporate blackstrap molasses into your diet and avoid fancy molasses. Blackstrap has more nutrients.

What sugar are you using. Any sugar substitutes?

Also, for a natural internal parasite cleanse, i use FOOD GRADE diatomaceous earth - i mix it into food or liquids. Also safe for larger pets like dogs and cats.

I could not find an ingredient label for the Last Mountain jams you buy. Would you mind posting the ingredients on the labels, please?

Instead of that processed Greek yogurt, you might try to find some organic kefir in glass jars, but not the kefir milk in plastic containers.
It's really good. Just add your own fresh fruits to it.

        Babe,
        xoxo

Good morning my wee Bonnie Lass (wee bit of Scott) You've done much more than I ever expected from this thread. You can be assured that I care about my health and that I'm one of those people who appreciates when someone does something nice or goes out of their way to help another. I will do as you say!! As an ex career soldier I know how to follow orders!!! You're a good kid Babe! :-)

Aaah...kale, misunderstanding (sorry)...I don't deep fry kale I lightly spice it and bake in the oven. Makes delicious chips. But nothing tastes like Lays Original! Lol! We use extra virgin olive oil and very sparingly use mazola vegetable oil.

Sugar...again seldom used. Like salt, I figure I get enough sugar from foods I eat. I use a half spoon of honey or maple syrup in coffee, tea or oatmeal. I will switch grade of syrup as you suggest. Sugar substitute, there is a box of stevia in the cupboard somewhere.

I will look into the availability of that Yogurt. Whitehorse is a small isolated city...selections can be very limited. Same for blackstrap molasses and the parasite cleanse. We do have 2 health food stores here but they are very small and unique in that there is hardly any food products. They carry mostly teas, herbs, "natural" vitamins and such. But I will go there today.

Jam Ingredients: blueberries or raspberries, glucose, water, sugar, pectin and citric acid (as acidified)

As you can see, I am doing pretty good at what I put into my body. I've never smoked or done drugs ever, and exercise regularly but cholesterol and blood pressure are a constant battle. Its getting tiresome so I have to stop ignoring the possibility that even though I love meat, I don't think my body likes it very much!

          THANK YOU BABE!!!
          Xoxoxo

PS: I love that song! There is something special about that name...Bill

            Order online

Originally posted by Babe View Post

You can order the D. Earth online. I paid 35$ Tax inc) for 5Kg from a health food store in Montreal.

I am sure you can get blackstrap online, also.

By the way, if you ever fry with E.V. olve oil, NEVER let it smoke - it becomes toxic at that point. I don't recommend vegy oil in any quantity. Get rid of it.
Use peanut, sunflower, and even coconut oil for cooking and frying they have higher smoke points.

            High cholesterol
If you want to lower your cholesterol, stop eating all meats and dairy and MILK-chocloate and ice creams. Cholesterol creates type-2-diabetes - not too much the presence sugar - it's the cholesterol in animal protein in meats. Type-2 diabetes is the symptom of the underlying main problem of too much choloesterol in the blood.
I would bet that maybe your doctor has said you are pre diabetic? I hope not.
If yes, stop all meats and animal proteins right away - it's vegan-time, baby, if that's the case.
Stop eating all cold cut meats (all of them) and all frozen pizzas - practically ANYTHING thats comes in a box, bag or can is filled with either sugar and salt. Don't eat it.

Do not eat or drink anything labelled as "DIET". Aspartame is POISON.

99.9% of breakfast cereals are traaasssshhhh junk - even the ones marketed or labelled as "heathy", lke Alpen, Vector, M?esli and all others are mosty pure garbage.
Go for (NON instant) oatmeal, use a fresh fruit smoothie instead of milk. Another good cereal is Post Mini Shredded Wheat, and again, use a fresh fruit smoothie instead of any milk.
We are the only animals on the whole planet who once we are weened from our mother's milk we drink the milk of another animal. Are you a calf? You'll look like one if you drink baby cow food, at your age. (See below for chia seeds.)

            High blood pressure
Eat raw beets or juice them, not too much, and eat baked white potatoes and use EV olive oil instead of butter. NO SALT for you. Don't eat too many baked white potates or else you'll gain weight, maybe eat only two per week.
Eating a small piece of dark chocolate per day, will help lower high blood pressure after about 5 months, without weight gain or other bad effects.
Eat more dark, leafy greens like romaine lettuce.
Kale, turnip greens, collard greens, and spinach, should be slightly steamed - not baked in the oven. You need to up your potassium intake and seriously LOWER your sodium intake.

Demi-salted butter contains SALT. Use olive oil on your toast or sandwiches insted of demi-salted butter.

Celery and cucmubers juices or eaten (but NO SALT) are good to lower H.B.P..
Frozen veggies are great STEAMED not boiled - eat them while still crunchy.
I don't use a microwave oven and neither should anyone who cares about their overall health.
Basically, when we cook food, we destroy the nutrients.
            Eat bananas, too.
Black, white, navy, lima, pinto, and kidney beans (NOT canned) they're all good for lowering H.B.P..

Order yourself some VEGAN vitamin D and viatmin B12 supplements from www.Puritan.com. They are NOT soft gels which contain corn oil and soy oil...yuck!
Take about 6-7000 IU per day and during summer if you are inside a lot, and increase that to about 10,000IU per day during the artic nights or months of low sunlight.
If you are in the sunlight all day, use less Vitamin D - about 2-3000 IU per day.
            Coffee is bad for H.B.P.
Drink Sencha green tea with NO sugar. Remember, when green tea turns an amber color, it's toxic, throw it away. That's why it's called GREEN tea.
Alcohol is bad for H.B.P., so lay the rum and beer.

Ginger ale is a processed liquid sugar candy. Enemy! SHOOT IT DOWN!!
Make your own ginger tea with FRESH ginger and hot water. NO SUGAR, use the stevia.

DO NOT binge on junk food "once is a while" as that will SPIKE your BP.

NEVER use sucrolose, (mispelled) saccerine, aspartame as i am sure you already know.

Do you use salad dressings on your salads? Which ones?...tell me the ingredients, please.
I only use cold pressed E.V. olive oil with organic apple cider vinegar (with mother).
Sometimes, i use cold pressed flax seed oil but i usually just take a tablespoon of that in the morning. Why leave that expensive oil on the side of the bowl, right?

And you should NEVER cook with flax seed oil or add it to hot foods - store in the freezer or in the fridge if your freezer is too cold and solidfies the flax seed oil. When buying flax seed oil, make sure the store keeps it in the fridge or else do not buy it from there.
Don't ever use any other olive oil other than E.V.

Add no salt to your foods, and so, no more processed store bought chips for you, sir.
Sodium is your mortal enemy. A heart attack in a salt shaker - grain by grain, it's "ashes to ashes and dust to dust, here lies the remains of Bill."

I take back what i said about whole milk. Eliminate milk from your diet. Buy chia seeds online for calcium - add a tablespoon twice per day to your soups, stews, FRESH juices.

The stevia is great, and stop using white granulated sugar completely.
Check food labels for sugar and sodium.

Canned fruit and vegy juices are bad as they add unlabeled sugar(s) and salt.
Your fancy jams, there?...well, i would stop eating them right away because of the added sugar.
"Used sparingly" day by day adds up, and with all the "used sparingly" throughout the week, means "a lot" in total, all coming from different "used sparingly" food sources.

Now, i will proceed to lay on tummy and stick up my caboose.
And you will do 100 push-ups on top of me, SOLDIER!! Slow ones!

We can play war games. I can play the captured village girl who would do ANYTHING you want for a sip of water. (wink wink) ANY THING!!

            Babe,
            xoxo

              Babe...

I've recently had a medical which included blood...my doc never mentioned diabetes. I'd be devastated should he.

Salad Dressings: I use the cold pressed EV olive oil with fresh squeeze lemon or a bit of white vinegar. Sometimes I use EV and balsamic vinegar over fresh tomatoes and cucumber.

I've mostly given up on animal dairy except for a bit of havarti cheese. My milk substitute is Rice Dream. But I'll probably give that up also. Lol!

I even changed bread and now solely eat 1-2 slices of Dimpilmeier Pumpernickel Rye with purple onion and the havarti. No butter, mayo or any spreads.

I recently switched to decaf coffee. My tea is often made with fresh ginger, fresh squeeze lemon, a drop of honey or maple syrup to sweeten.

OMG!!! Babe...I'm going to print this off and follow it. So much involved to take care of ones body. I was aware of some of this info but never really practised it. You giving me lots of info that I wasn't aware of also. Time to put it to use!

NOW MA'ME...adopt the caboose position...time for PUSH-UPS!! Slow and deliberate now...WORK THOSE HIPS IN LITTLE CIRCLES!! DOOO IT!! SQUEEZE THOSE BUTTOCKS TOGETHER!!, CLENCH THAT SPHINCTER! .OOOOOOOOOOOONE TWOOOOOOOOOOOO TREEEEEEEEEEEEE.......(lol I'm originally from the Maritimes)

They usually wait until you have diabetes so they can start prescribing insulin.

Ask for a written copy of your blood work (i do) and then check your OWN sugar levels.
