Most people move out and get their own places (apartments). That usually keeps mom out of their stuff.

You could buy a combination lock briefcase.
Make a secret hidden compartment in your dry-wall, behind a poster or painting.
You could hide a few things inside a tall PC tower.
Buy a small safe (those things are REALLY heavy.)
Buy a small two-drawer locking filing cabinet.

I think that's all i've got to offer at the moment.
