hope they will change one day LGBTQ for GSM (Gender and Sexual Minorities) otherwise the "T" should be removed from the LGBTQ. ^_^

Here's a suggestion...
Originally posted by Babe View PostHi all,
Well, i do know lol that anyone can create a petition on the care2 petition site and demand that the T be removed from the LGBT community. You can all sign it and maybe get 100 signatures from the TGs who think they are too elite to be part of the LGBT community.
If they win and the T is removed, all the TGs can struggle longer trying to win fights for rights and freedoms in the future.
Hey, maybe you can, also, exclude all the female-to-male TGs, too, so the male-to female TGs can, then, be EXTREMELY distinguishable. Oh oh oh check it out! Check it out!...you can, also, make sure to exclude all the gender-queers and the androgynous peope, too, which would make OUR community a pretty small community, but, at least, we would be the "prettier" ones.
I think it would be like Prince Edward Island wanting to separate from Canada to become it's OWN country just because of...Quebec.
I am certain many of the gays would love to not be associated with TGs, as they think we're pretty screwed-up "men" for wanting to become women. Right?...gays think that about us?
Some male gays are just as hateful towards us as many of the mainstream hetrosexual society. With any bad luck, maybe the larger gay commnunity would all rally against us TGs when we try to fight for TG rights, and then maybe mainstream society would embrace gays for hating us TGs.
Just a suggestion. Someone should create a petition to get the T out of LGBT, then.
I think it would be a bad move, kind of like, cutting off your noses to spite your faces.
So go and gather all the TGs from around the planet to get them to agree that the T should be removed from LGBT because we don't want to be associated with gays, lesbians, bisexual, androgynous, CDs, TVs and all those into BDSM and all the other fetish groups, and then go and create a petition, and then target it at the LGBT commnunity and see how it goes.
I wouldn't sign that one. I'll stay with the masses on that idea and stay within the larger community.
Just my opinion. Hey, maybe i am wrong.
Babe,
xoxo

I don't know who is suggesting separating from the larger movement?? I think some are only suggesting that in addition to the larger movement transgenders need to address some of their group specific needs separately. And there are TG activist groups that are doing just that especially on issues that they don't feel are being addressed in the overall LGBT movement. I don't see anything wrong in that. And again including fetishes in the group is self defeating as no one is saying people straight, bi, gay or trans cannot engage in whatever fetishes they want in private.Originally posted by Babe View Post

They want the T-community to stand alone in their OWN separate community in order to fight for their OWN T-rights.
Read the thread.
I think some people just see the last post, and then comment on that.

“We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.”Originally posted by Babe View PostHi Jane,
Great quote. I wonder who said/wrote that.
That one might be okay for one lone escort to say to a man when he asks her why he can't find reviews on her.
But for a whole community, i will use quotes that i found listed below.
Babe,
xoxo
― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
“The Destiny of Man is to unite, not to divide. If you keep on dividing you end up as a collection of monkeys throwing nuts at each other out of separate trees.”
― T.H. White
“We are each other's harvest; we are each other's business; we are each other's magnitude and bond.”

Babe,
xoxoI think the others were speaking more of redefining the terms used not dropping out and going it alone. Great quotes by the way. And speaking of reviews...I hear crickets...I know it's hard getting reviews in conservative Sask but Montreal and Ottawa..Come on!Originally posted by Babe View Post?We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.?

This is the topic of the thread.
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takea...=20712905#sign
Join the Fight for International LGBT Rights
- author: New Democratic Party of Canada
- target: Stephen Harper's Conservatives
- signatures: 6,515

we've got 6,515 signatures, help us get to 10,000
Stephen Harper's Conservatives joined Russia and other countries with disgraceful records on LGBT rights and skipped the highest-level UN meeting ever held on the issue. Once again, Conservatives are failing when it comes to international LGBT rights.
It is critical that Canada participates in international efforts to protect LGBT rights and to counter homophobic and transphobic attitudes across the globe.
Seventy-six countries still criminalize consensual adult same-sex relationships. Canada must be a part of the fight for LGBT rights. Sign the petition calling on the Canadian government to join the UN LGBT Core Group immediately.

Petition is ambitious, but I'd never sign anything with an NDP logo on it.
Let's keep the NDP where they belong: in OPPOSITION ... so they can assist in keeping the Conservatives in check.
It would be scary to think what would happen to our great country if these socialist slime balls ever got any REAL power.

IMHO.
The thing is, this particular petition is under NDP (!) and they are well known lairs. Look how many petitions they have started, all they need is only your name and address... they will never ever go and fight for it, oh no. It's simple monitoring and research. So soon transgender/gay/lesbian volunteer from NDP will knock at your door hoping for your vote.
They say to skinheads - Hail Hitler!!! to LGBT - For Freedom!!! to you that you are rightful Queen of England!!!
no more about politic from me ... 「(゚ペ)
ps. Babe, i truly hope they will change.

They all lie.
Originally posted by Babe View PostHi Mia,
All political parties lie.
However, not all of them will make a petition and get 10,000 signatures on it just for change so that the LGBT community is treated with more respect.
As i've said several times in this thread since the NDP have been brought up as if to say the petition is a "NDP trap" to get the NDP party YOUR vote.
Signing the petition is NOT a political vote. The NDP just want to show that they support our rights.
That is hardy a lie.
I don't care if a Neo-nazi group creates a petition in favor of the LGBT community which demands more rights for us, and sends it to Harper. I'd sign that one, too!
It doesn't mean i support neo nazis. It would mean i am for more LGBT rights, and freedoms.
So, i can't see why you or any one chooses to refuse to see beyond the NDP logo.
Look, if you don't like the NDP, don't vote for the NDP.
THIS petition is not a vote for the NDP.
You know...there is a neighbor in my building who hates me, but if she makes a petition that asks Harper to give more rights to the LGBT community and asks me to sign it, i will sign it. I won't let her stupid attitude and small minded mentality stop me from signing a petition geared at helping the LGBT community.
How many petitions do you sign in support of the LGBT community that you can refuse to sign this one?
And, yes, i know you signed it, already, but why would you try to discourage others from signing it?
Is it because the NDP wrote the petition??
If they did, so what?
When the NDP gets their 10,000 signatures on a petition asking for LGBT rights, who does it benefit...the NDP? Gee, ya think?
