i have to agree with the assessment that Robin Williams was the greatest comedy talent of his generation: his machine-gun-fast freelancing on random topics was hysterical. What a truly trgic loss.

Celebrity deaths sometimes just pass us by as we read the news headlines. But a guy like Robin Williams hit us at a much deeper level for over 3 decades of entertainment. This really touches a cord with almost everyone. I hope his family will take some time to share about his depression in hopes that it can help people gain a better understanding . Depression is still very much misunderstood, made fun of, and treated like it is just "lazy person won't get off their ass" when it is an actual disease that can cripple your life.Comment

So terribly sad. Had heard that he recently went into rehab for a "tuneup".
A comic genius - like so many other top comics couldn't shake his suffocating depression. Always seems so ironic that one who could be so funny was so sad.Comment

A true gift to humanity . . .
I have been watching him since his debut as Mork. I too have been laughing endlessly ever since. Words are obviously not sufficient at a time such as this, however, the words 'father', 'genius','humanitarian' and 'human', all come to mind. You have irrevocably changed the comedic landscape for ever. For that reason and many others, you will be missed. RIP.
